Mariah Carey's twin names

Oh dear God.

Moroccan???  If she likes Moroccan things, should could at least have had a place name rather than an adjective.

I hereby decree that my first born will be named Jamaican.

Re: Mariah Carey's twin names

  • I can't read that; my work blocks everything.  What's the other name?
    image
  • Oh dear. Seriously, how do you name a child with a nationality?
  • Moroccan Scott for the boy and Monroe for the girl.

    Monroe
  • What is it with celebrities giving their children weird names?
  • At least the middle name is normal; maybe he can go by that.

  • Slightly off-topic, but Kate Hudson's stupid duck face in the right sidebar is ridiculous.  She does not look cool.  She looks stupid.

And if she wanted to name the girl after marilyn monroe why on earth didn't she just name her marilyn?
  • I like the name Monroe, I think it is cute.

  • Yeah, I think Monroe is unusual but in a good way.

  • Supposedly her rep didn't release the names when they were born, but said they were, "unusual, but not unheard of." Which I'm thinking means something not in the top 100 on the SS list, right? Well... Moroccan is not unheard of, but it's definitely not known as a name! They could call him Rocky, I guess.

  • Monroe is okay, though I might expect a boy with that name rather than a girl.

Maybe Moroccan can go by Mo when he's older. Or Scott.

If it was the boys name I think I would like it better.

  • I was hoping for Bethe'nay and Devon'Tay
  • I can get down with Monroe.  But I'm with all you guys on Moroccan.  I'd be M. Scott if I were that kid.

At least your first born would actually be a bit Jamaican, right? As far as I know neither Mariah Carey or Nick Cannon have any personal connection to Morocco.
  • I love unisex names for girls, so Monroe is okay to me. I did think, though, that if she wanted to name her after Marilyn Monroe, she could have named her Marilyn.

Moroccan is not something their son will thank them for in the future.

Ha!  You're right.  I denounce my initial decree and now state that my first born will be named Chinese.

You can keep those on your short list for baby panda LOL.

Speaking of babies, my dear friend just found out she is having a boy!  She and her hubby are being boring though - his name will be Benjamin Richard, Richard for her father.

The part about renewing their vows in the hospital to mark the special occassion is kinda weird too.

We can only hope they didn't eat the placentas as part of it.
  • Yeah but they renew their vows every single year, so I'm not altogether surprised.

Oh well in that case im not suprised either.
  • I guess I don't see anything egregious about either name. Unusual, but not to the point of idiocy that could've been.

  • How many times do I have to say that baby panda's name is Turkeybutt Stuffingface? It's unisex, and festive!
  • I just realized the child's name is Moroccan Cannon.

I actually don't mind Marilyn. But I think that Monroe is really nice sounding and different. It's that would have never crossed my mind.
  • I think celebrities want their kids' names to be different, but they go so far as to end up with completely random and just strange things.  And, I mean, I don't care.  But kids are cruel, and having a famous mom or dad isn't going to protect them from taunting and teasing once school rolls around.

Monroe is different, but nice - and not so different that it's going to set the kid up to be teased later on in life.
