S....L....O....W....

Anyone else having a really slow day? My boss's nephew (she's got custody) is sick and she and I are the only ones on our side of the building and the folks on the other side are very very quiet. I'm sitting here all alone listening to the radio and knotting. I need something interesting to talk about.

AND I'm super close to not having to be a newbie anymore. I'm excited.

Re: S....L....O....W....

  • I have a crap ton of work to do today........but no desire to do it.  I agree, the day is dragging b/c I want to leave.

  • I'm sitting around drinking coffee and watching the Princess and the Frog on Starz.  Its still early enough that I can be lazy.  I need to get back to work though.  H and I both haven't worked in a month now and I feel like the laziest people in the world.

  • I have a stack of papers that I should be filing, but the weather is beautiful, and knotting is more fun so I'm ignoring the paperwork and telling the boss I was super busy all day and couldn't get to it. She's been out for 2 days in a row now (yesterday she had to get an oil change...yes...apparently that took 8 hours.) I'M BORED!!

Btw, Little Stacks is freaking precious on those pumpkins =)

The little girl I babysit LOVES that movie! She used to tell me that if I bought it for her she would be my daughter lol. "Ms LDY, if you buy me the princess and the frog I wont live with mommy and daddy anymore, I'll come be your little girl."

I keep telling myself that if I didn't work for a month I'd be happy - but I can see how its probably getting to you. You're a teacher right? It's GOT to be difficult to find something in the middle of the school year. Yuck.
  • Thanks!  I'll probably change the picture again tomorrow, she has her first class field trip to the pumpkin patch.  I'm excited!  :)

I did so much work here this morning b/c I was out yesterday, but then I went to see if any new patient data came in this morning and I swear the drawer was stuffed FULL of data.  I feel like I did all that work this morning for nothing b/c I'm right back where I started.  Oh well.  I'm pacing myself.  ;)
  • I'm a little behind you on loosing the newb badge.

    It's slow here, too.
I don't mind, though.  My cousin keeps texting me and I have time to respond.

    9AM-His wife's contractions were 3-5 mins apart
    10:30AM- They broke her water
That's central time, so it's been an hour and a half with no message.  Which I'm assuming means they are very busy and the next one will be typed by him, beaming, saying he's a father.
    I'm excited. :-)

Haha, I love baby days! My coworker/wife of FI's best friend had a baby in June - the whole office was on edge waiting for my e-mails as to her status. She came back and send out an e-mail saying "thanks LDY, for keeping everyone up to date on the state of my cervix" lol. It was awesome. She loved the attention though.
  • I'm killing time in a cafe on campus. This half an hour needs to fly by and my bus needs to come already.

At least you get off at 4! I have to hang around til 4:30. I wish my computer had speakers - I'd SO be watching netflix right now. I'm on season 2 of Nip/Tuck...sorta obsessed.
  • It feels like Thursday. Actually, it's MY Thursday because I have off on Friday, but I still think it should be later in the week. I also have all my work done for the week PLUS the week I'm on vacation, basically. So not much to do for the next 1.5 work days.

So instead, I'm giving myself an ulcer worrying/being upset about the fact that I'm getting married this weekend and my friend is STILL living in my house.

  • I was very excited when I lost the Newb title.  Seemed like it took forever, and then now they just keep piling up.  I'm pretty sure my wedding was over before I even hit it.

Yes I am a teacher, but won't be teaching while I'm in Washington.  Since I'm only here for a year and a half to 2 years, I'm going to be working at a travel health clinic.  Its a franchise and 2 of my aunts own a franchise in Buffalo that I've helped with, so they networked me to the office out here.  I'm supposed to be having dinner tonight with the owner to figure out when I'll start and how much I'll work.

    I sure hope you're not smoking =)

I can help make the time pass - I think you should start talking to random strangers. Get their life story. Ask about their dog.

I love random strangers. My mom used to freak out thinking I was going to get kidnapped because I was always going up and talking to people.

    Don't get kidnapped.

You're getting MARRIED this weekend!! Feel weird? I keep looking at FI and saying "we've got XX days left...ready to run for the hills?" or "holy crap, we're almost married" I think I'm freaking myself out about it.

I say you spend the next day and a half making sure every little detail it under control. However, if I remember correctly, you're pretty on top of this wedding stuff. I, however, feel like my wedding is going to be one very large clusterfuuck. I'm trying not to think about it.

Where are ya'll going on your honeymoon?
  • ha! Technically mine should end at 4:30 as well buuuuuut today it's going to be 4 because Sesame Street Live is on campus tonight and I park in the lot for the building where they perform so I'm NOT getting stuck in that traffic!

And Netflix at work is amazing.  Really helps kill time.

  • Not smoking! But as far as the stranger thing, oh god you could not suggest something I would enjoy less.

I generally dislike people and am extremely judgmental. I spend most of my time here (at school) trying not to choke the sh!t out of people. And I don't really do well with lots of friends since I'm lazy, so making more friends is not something I'm interested in.

    Yup. I'm a bitch.

I never watched it when it was on b/c I never got F/X! Someone told me to start watching it one day when I was sick and I just got hooked. Not much has really happened so far - I hear it gets awesome. I'm excited.

FI stopped watching after the circumcision episode. I think it messed with his head lol
  • Msmery- I think the weirdest thing for me was when it came to the week of the wedding it was no longer x months until the wedding, or  x weeks, it was just, holy crap the wedding is Friday!  I can honestly say I never got nervous or freaked out or anything though.  Just crazy that it seems like you wait forever with all the planning for it to just be done, and all of a sudden it was like "wow its on Friday."

I'm not nervous, just excited. I'm flipping out over friend drama way more (which I don't need, since my wedding is this weekend!). Also, my mom JUST bought her plane tickets yesterday, so that caused a bit of angina. I knew she'd make it though.

I have to work tomorrow, but FI is off, so he's finishing things around the house. Then it's just shuttling people from the airport, delivering stuff to the venue, picking up my dress, and getting my nails done on Friday and Saturday.

We're leaving for Napa on Tuesday and we'll be gone until next weekend. Short and sweet, but I've never been to Napa. We can't really swing leaving the country at this point, because of the wedding, and I don't have that much paid time off from work.

  • I'm feeling kind of out of it.  I had some dental work done yesterday (redoing an infected root canal) and am on some pain meds.  They didn't affect me much last night, but now that I'm at work I feel like crap.  I was thinking of taking off early, but I have some stuff to do.

Yeah! This morning I thought, "Oh, huh, four days. Alright then." Just one little week from now I'll be married and on my honeymoon. I was thinking yesterday how I'll only be "engaged" for a few more days. After Sunday I'll never again be a "never-married, single" woman.

I still have a t-shirt from Sesame Street Live when I went when I was 3 years old. It's on a teddy bear at my mom's house lol. Classic 1988 ringer tee. *memories.*

I went to Dora the Explorer live with my cousins daughter a few months ago - I think the traffic was worse for that then it was for the Motley Crue show I saw at the same venue - soccer moms are crazy drivers. Good luck getting out!
  • I'm waiting for my next class to come in. I got all 90 of my exams graded in less than 24 hours, AND last night I wrote a short (3 page) paper for my class, so I've only got the take-home final to finish by tomorrow and I'll be done with this course. Only 3 more until I get my gifted certification.

Maybe we should stage a knot walk out. Pretend it's a political demonstration...or a religious thing. We've all just gotta leave work. Sorry. It's in the "rules" of Knotdom.
