FOOD!

What are some foods you have never had before, that you really want to try?

I really want to try fried green tomatoes, raw oysters (i dont think I will like it, but I want to atleast try something - quality though), I would also like to try grilled fruit.

  • Fried green tomatoes are fabulous. You won't be disappointed
  • Grilled pineapple is da bomb.

I really want to have some truly fresh seafood.  All we get in MN is frozen, unless you want to shell out $$$.
  • frog legs, fried twinkie or snickers (I know it's terrible, but I must try before I die), rocky mountain oysters (maybe, i might have to take a trip to the testicle festival).

Im growing some beefsteaks this summer, so I think I will try my had at some this summer to see how it turns out. I will have to do some searching for a recipe though.

Poutine is honestly SO good, it looks awful but its delicious. The cheese curds get all melty and its so yummy.
  • yeah! i forget what they are called but apparently they are amazing.

  • i really really really really wanna try matzoh ball soup. i have no idea where to get it, and i don't trust myself to do a decent job attempting to make it. but i WANT it.
  • I've never tried caviar. The thought of eating fish eggs just seems repulsive to me for some reason.

I've tried pretty much everything that I've ever wanted to try. You don't get an ass like mine without taking some risks  :P
  • In Tucson, we have sonoran hot dogs - beef dogs wrapped in bacon and topped with beans, mayo, ketchup, mustard and other yummy stuff. They are to die for.

I want to try deep fried twinkies too. And fried green tomatoes. oh, and TGIFriday's fried green beans. Apparently, I want a lot more fried foods in my life.

  • Oh yeah, I'd like to try frog legs too.  I recently tried alligator tail which was actually pretty good.

I'm sure there's a restaurant in your area that makes a decent matzoh ball soup.

The idea of caviar just repulses me, but surely it MUST be good if its such a delicacy!
  • Suggestion: DON'T try barracuda. It tastes like rubber.

Do I want to know how you know what rubber tastes like?
  • matzoh ball soup is good.  Alligator, didn't care for.  Caviar is so-so.

I've eaten weird things.  I guess at least I can say I've tried it?

  • Ha I just mean it's really chewy, like it tastes like all fat, which doesn't make sense to me because I don't think of barracudas being particularly fat.

What does it taste like? I've heard that it's salty. I'm actually more interested in what the texture is like. I have a problem with weird textures in my mouth.

omg, I LOVE matzoh ball soup!  The diners at home are primarily run by Greeks, but for some reason all have kick ass matzoh ball soup.  I miss home.  There are no good diners here, only Ihop and Denny's.  Lame.

I honestly didn't know that people ate barracuda. It's not on my bucket list.
  • I don't think there is anything that I want to try.  I'm not very adventurous with my food and am perfectly okay with that.

It was sort of rubbery, but I had it on a cracker thing with some sort of spread and then the caviar was on top.

  • Fried twinkies and snickers are amazing!  Definitely worth trying :)  I would like to try new fruits and vegetables and broaden my palate past apples, bananas and carrots.

That's usually how I end up trying most new foods. I don't seek them out, I just happen upon them.

I really and truly just love eating. I love food. I would love to just spend my life eating if I didnt have to worry about calories or anything like that.

Louisiana is the place to get both of these things. And my fried green tomatoes with crawfish cream sauce are pretty darn amazing, to toot my own horn. Definitely get your oysters from the gulf south, they're the best. I found a pearl in one of mine not too long ago. Raw oysters are one of those polarizing things that people either love or hate. I'm in the love camp. They have a weird texture, but I find them delightful. Particularly with a cold longneck Budweiser, cause I'm klassy like that.
