Guest Count Help

Do you consider kids as a guest when you are counting how many guests you have?  I assume yes, because you want to make sure that you have plenty of food for everybody, but counting the kids also is making our list go up quite a bit since all of our friends are married and have families now.  We can't have over 100 guests at our venue.

Re: Guest Count Help

  • If kids are going to be present, they definitely count as guests.  There may be reduced pricing for them (you should ask your venue) - but for capacity reasons, they are a full person.
  • For food budget, kids might not count as a full guest if they are young enough for a kid meal. For venue capacity, kids are always a full guest but you might want to ask about infants.
  • For capacity purposes every guest should be counted (even infants).

As far as food and pricing that is up to the caterer/venue.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
