TY card spin-off

A week after our wedding, fi and I and the kids are going on a "honeymoon" that is really a family vacation to fabulous Sandusky, Ohio.  Yes, I know - envy me.

Anyway, I was considering writing and sending postcards from our vacation as our thank-you notes instead of the traditional thank-you cards in little envelopes.

As a guest, would you think that was nice?  Obnoxious?  Something else?

Re: TY card spin-off

  • I think it's a cute idea!  But would the time it takes you to do that detract from your vacation?

  • I think the sentiment would be the same. I think it would be kinda fun to get a post card. I dont think I've received a post card that wasn't a appointment reminder in years.

  • I think it's cute but I would play it safe and just do regular t/u cards so as to be sure not to offend anyone (especially more traditional people).
  • Are you going to Cedar Point?  That's pretty fun!
  • I think that's cute!
  • I like that idea.  I think it's cute and adds a very personal touch.
  • Are you going to Cedar Point?

I think it's a cute idea, but can get expensive.  Tourist postcards can get pricey.

  • I love getting postcards so I really like that idea.
  • Should I know about Sandusky?  Is it like Branson?
  • I really like this!! The only time I don't like offbeat thank yous is when they wrap up a lame thank you into a standard Christmas card.
  • bbycakes, Sandusky has Cedar Point and...well Cedar Point.  It's an amusement park.  Kind of like Six Flags.

  • Thanks for the feedback, everyone!  I don't want to, as Julez pointed out, offend anyone, but I'm glad to see most folks wouldn't be offended at all and may actually like the idea.

Yes, Cedar Point is the main reason we're going there (And the beaches.  And our budget).  Fi is from Toledo and, as a child, one of his aunts & uncles would take him and his siblings there once a year.  He is so looking forward to taking my children there; I find it very sweet.  We've gone to Michigan Adventures (run by the Cedar Point people) for the last 2 years and have had lots of fun!
  • Oh okay, thanks aMrs.
  • I love that idea!

Since a lot of post cards can cost up to $3 (that I've seen, maybe more, maybe less), you could always print some from the walmart website for .84 each.

Hmm. I don't know.  Some of my thunder is wrapped up in that idea - are you getting married before me?
  • I love Cedar Point!  :)  And yes, I think that's a cute idea.  Anything where you actually put some thought into your thank you note is a great idea.

I think as long as you have enough space on the postcard to write each guest a personalized TY it's a great idea.

And that sounds like a super-fun HM, also.
  • If Cedar Point were open year round it would out draw each of the Disney parks (not all of them combined but individually). It has been voted the # 1 amusement park many years in a row, vote #1 by Roller Coaster Enthusiasts many times in a row, International Park of the year for like 12 years in a row . If you like roller coasters, this place is for you. It's nickname is America's Roller Coast. Plus the beach, other types of rides and entertainment. We dock across the bay from Cedar Point.  We have a 32' power boat.

Also go see the Merry Go Round museum downotwn.  Take a ferry to Kelley's Island and then over to Put In Bay.

Walk around and shop at the stores on Marblehead/Lakeside.  You can make the short drive to Cleveland  to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Museum  which is a hands on museum your kids will love.

For good local pizza and other foods visit Cameo - near the Merry Go Round Museum.

Go to the Tofts factory for fabulous ice cream. HUGE HUGE servings, low price. I love their turtle sundaes.

For great lake views while dining, eat at Damon's at Battery Park. Ribs are pretty good there but I like a lot of their other stuff better.

  • Thanks, Skippy-awesome information!  How thoughtful of you to chime in with all that!
