How to ask guests to leave.

We are having a brunch wedding that goes until 3pm. How do I ask guest to kindly leave. J

Re: How to ask guests to leave.

  • Have your DJ play Closing Time by Semisonic. I think your guests will get the hint.

  • People will get the hint. When you, your new H, and the WP begin to leave, people will begin to pack up their things and go.

Also, if your DJ, caterer, etc. are only going to be present until 3 (as I presume they will be), it will be understood that the party is over when the vendors begin to leave.

  • If you are having a DJ and dancing then you can have him announce the last dance.  Or if you are having music have it turned off, or if you are having an open bar have them shut it down.  People should get the hint.  Otherwise just walk around as it gets close to when you have to be out and thank people for coming and gently tell them that you only have the venue reserved until 3 o'clock.

  • Uh, I think they'll leave when the party's over. Why would they hang around? I guess you could put on your invitations that the brunch reception will run from x time to y time? I'm pretty sure that would be ok. Most venues have a specified ending time for events like weddings, and I wouldn't think having guests hanging around after that would be a problem.

  • our wedding ended at 4pm.  many guests who had to drive a few hours home left at 3 or 330.  most were gone by 4, and those taht weren't, figured it out when staff starting readying the tables for that nights dinner service.

    THIS
  • And to OP, as PPs said, your DJ can announce the "last dance", and could follow it by "have a good night everyone!"  To which you and DH up and leave.  If they still sit at their tables with no music playing and vendors packing, then maybe they drank too much.

  • They will get the hint when the dj starts taking his stuff down and the caterers start cleaning up. I definitely wouldn't put an end time on the invites or ask guests to leave. They are adults and I am sure most of them have been to weddings before.
  • I think for the most part people will know whe it's time to leave, whether by announcing a last song, staff starts to clean up, other guests leave, etc. And since your wedding is earlier, my guess is people are less likely to hang around for a long time, whereas they are probably more likely to party at night.
  • My mom is planning to stand up at the end of our reception and loudly announcing "The party's over, everyone go home!"

    (j/k)

Assuming you're doing a full meal and cake for dessert, I would *hope* that the guests will figure out that the party's over when the desserts and such have been served and eaten.
  • WOW thanks for all the ideas. i dont know which one to use.. sorry but i hope i dont have to set anyone on fire to get them to leave awesome idea though.

Yes - the dogs, or the bees, or the dogs with bees in their mouths and when they bark they shoot bees at you.
  • Nothing gets the people I know out the door faster that closing the bar.  Stop serving alcohol and people move on.

Also, your catering staff will ask them to leave if they are tearing down and the people are standing around staring into nothingness.

If I had a dog, he would do this. You know, cause I'm Bee.
