When I was planning M's wedding, I had called my stockbroker and asked him to cut me a check from my account.
We used to work for the same firm so we were more friends that just a business relationship.
He handed me the check and did all the ;so nice to see you, how's M doing, where are you working now"; stuff.
I told him that the check was for M's wedding expenses and said that he was damn lucky that he had only (3) sons.
He replied " haha, E, but you forget that I am Chinese and it's our custom that he groom's parents pay for the wedding"
