Facial moisturizer/sunscreen

What facial moisturizer do you use in the summer for some sun protection?  I have sensitive skin and most drug store stuff gives me hives.

  • I have sensitive skin and I swear by Neutrogena.

  • Boots No. 7.  Available at Target.  They have a lightly tinted moisturizer too - SPF 15.

  • I use Clinique's "Even Better".

I've got mild rosacea on my cheeks and super sensitive skin, and it calms it and evens out the tone AND it's SPF 20 so it makes me a happy banana. Freaking pricey though, but it lasts a couple of months.

  • I love the Clinique stuff too, but when I'm feeling more budget friendly I love Neutrogena moisturizer. I normally use the sensitive skin with spf and it doesn't mess up my skin, and I have very acne prone skin.
  • Neutrogena (spf 25 but light) or Aveeno (spf 15 but heavier).  Although, I would LOVE to try the Bare Escentuals stuff.  (The cleanser & moisturizer.)

  • Ditto shelly's neutrogena, I've used forever and it's still my favorite. It's light and not greasy at all.

  • I feel like any time someone needs a cheap alternative, come ask me.  As pathetic as this sounds, since I've gotten married, I've had to find a lot of budget alternatives as opposed to the stuff I used to use.

  • If I go the clinique route should I do an actual sunscreen or just a moisturizer with some sunscreen in it?

  • Shellydiane, that new picture is wonderful - so sweet!  Whose flowers is your husband holding?
  • Night, the moisturizer with SPF for sure. It's good. Just too expensive for my broke as*s :) Ahh, the days of high school, with no bills and worked a few days a week, and all I put on my face was Clinique. Boo.

Thanks!  I think they were one of the bridesmaids.  I can't remember why he was holding them, though.  I just remember after the picture he was like "oh I have flowers."

  • I typically try and do the combo moisturizer sunscreen, mainly because I'm lazy and try to minimize my products as much as possible. Typically most of the ladies at the clinique counter are really helpful though and can let you know which product they would recommend based on your skin type.
  • I'm right in that boat with you, Whit.  Unfortunately, anything but clinique tends to send my skin into red, rashy, Oh hell no mode.

Well that's no fun. I love their sensitive stuff, it's what I used to use even though my skin isn't sensitive. I just like to think I'm being gentler to my face when I don't wash it off at night ;)

  • I second the cetaphil. I have really sensitive skin. I think I pay 10 for the bottle, and a little bit goes a long way, so it lasts foooreverrr!
  • I use the gel moisturizer as my daily, Missy.  That's why I'm somewhat inclined to go a clinique route.

  • i have sensitive, dry skin and i burn easlity (damn irish skin!). i use garnier skin-renew moisturizer (spf 28) and then i use MAC tinted moisturizer as a foundation, which has spf 15 in it. keeps me from getting burned, has plenty of moisturizing, and i get some light coverage to even out skin tone. win.

plus the garnier stuff is a lot cheaper than the high end cosmetics lines and works just as good i've found. i swore by clinique's moisturizer for years until i tried this stuff. $12 vs $35, you can't go wrong :)
  • I use Neutrogena Healthy Defense spf 45 year round. they have untinted and tinted formulas.

  • I use Murad Anti-Aging moisturizer SPF 20.  Expensive, but feels nice.  I get it at Sephora.
  • I use the Biore dual fusion moisturizer with SPF 30. I use it every day. Of course, it doesn't get SUPER cold and dry in LA, so I don't really need to change my skin care routine. I think Scoetto uses it too. It's very light. And since I've been using moisturizer with sunscreen everyday (the last 2 or 3 years) I've noticed my skin has gotten a LOT better.

Definitely use actual sunscreen in addition to moisturizer.  The sunscreen that's in the moisturizer isn't as protective as the SPF you'd get in an actual sun product.  I actually use the moisturizing Aveeno sunblock (SPF30) on my face in the summer as a moisturizer.

  • On the cheaper end, try either Oil of Olay with SPF or Neutrogena (my dermatologist friend swears by all Neutrogena products) also with SPF.

Also consider trying baby moisturizer with SPF since the manufacturers usually leave out the fragrances and artificial coloring that cause so many of the allergic reactions.
