I'm having a very small wedding in a city quite far away from my hometown, and by extension my family. My mother is unable to attend my wedding due to this and medical issues. My father has asked me if I plan on letting my stepmother act as mother-of-the-bride (specifically during the processional, among other things). *I can't stand my step-mother.* And it was all I could do not to yell "HELL NO!"
That being said, my father is paying for the wedding. Is there a way to avoid having her act as MOB, but still appease everyone? AND still save my dad (who I'm very close to) a good couple of months in the doghouse? I've thought of not including parents/grandparents in the processional at all, but I love my fiance's mother and grandmother and don't want to offend them. (Also, my fiance is an only child. So this is the only chance they will get to do the processional thing.)
I don't know what to do. And I'm frustrated that my dad even asked this of me. Any help?
