Addressing invitations

I am sending out save the date cards (followed by invitations).  Now, one of the families that I am inviting includes one of my bridesmaid and my flower girl.  In one home, the famaily consists of:

--Bridesmaid
--Bridesmaid's mother and stepfather
--Bridesmaid's adult sister
--Bridesmaid's grandmother
--Flowergirl and both parents

I told my mom that there should be at least 4 invitations sent out.  My mom said to send out only 2 (one for my bridesmaid and one for whe whole family).  Any help would be great.

Your mom is wrong. You need to send 4 or 5 invitations to that house.
  • Anyone over the age of 18 gets their own invite. Period.

This is how i see it:

Bridesmaid gets her own. Bridesmaids sister gets her own. Grandparents get one together. Mother and stepfather get one together. Flower girl and parents get one together.

  • Yeah, BUT these are STDs. If it's a magnet or something to go on the fridge, I think it's been recommended around these parts to send "one per fridge" or something of the like.
  • 5 invitations.  STDs - I could go either way.  I get the one per fridge rule, and wouldn't be offended if I was still at home and we got one magnet STD with everyone's names on it.  But at the same time we did STDs just like invitations and one of H's cousins pulled me aside to thank me for sending them their own.  She's a 40 yo with her husband and two kids living back with mom after some financial difficulties and it seemed to REALLY mean a lot to her to be treated as an independent family unit.  So for the cost of a few extra stamps I'm glad we did it that way.

Also I can't imagine getting 8 names on one STD envelope
