Input on going dress shoping the weekend of discussion for aunts benefit?

Okay so we had recently found out that one of my aunts has breast cancer. My cousin (her daughter) sent me a message a few weeks ago about how on the 28th they were going to have people get together to have a discussion of doing a benefit for my aunt.

They live 5 hours away and there is a plus size only wedding dress shop where they live. We kind of want to make a weekend of this and spend the 28th discussing the benefit and the 29th going wedding dress shopping.

Would this be okay for us to do? Or should we plan a different weekend going over there?

The only people I want to have dress shopping with me is my mother, my MOH, my bridesmaid (who is a different cousin), and that cousins mother since my cousin is 11. Reason for only having them, is because I want to keep the dress a complete surprise from EVERYONE else.

  • I also think it's fine.  I wouldn't make a big deal about it or anything, but I don't see why you shouldn't make the most of your trip
  • Thank you! We also decided we would ask our aunt with breast cancer and her daughter. We think it would be a great way for them to get their mind off of other things for a little while.
  • I think it is fine - why make the drive multiple times?
  • I'm so sorry about your aunt.

So am I. It is going to be hard for all my family, but from what she was telling us it sounds like they found it early so hopefully this will not be to difficult or long of a process for her.
