RSVP not returned, what do I do?

I have only gotten back 1/2 of my RSVP's and the date on them was last friday. My mother says assume they arent coming, my future mother in law says call to find out. Which is the correct thing to do?

    You call and find out.

If you just assume these people aren't coming, you're going to be in for a rude awakening on the day-of, when you don't have seats or food for your guests.

  • You should call them and ask.

  • Call and ask, or be unpleasantly surprised.  Besides, you never know if their response got lost in the mail.
  • Yep, you need to call everyone and ask. Things might have gotten lost in the mail or they just forgot to mail it back.

  • Start making phone calls :-) Be polite...they may have gotten lost in the mail, etc. Some folks may not have even gotten the invite. If people do not respond to your phone call, you can call again in a few days. Let them know that if you don't hear from them by xx date, you're very sorry but you'll have to mark them as a "no."

Or even their invitation.  Call and ask to be on the safe side.

    Call them.  Don't assume anything.
  • I would call and ask. That seems like a large number of people to not respond.

  • I agree with PPs...the invite or RSVP may have gotten lost in the mail. Call!

  • I've had 3 DD's get married and we have called everyone who didn't RSVP.  You MUST do this!  You (and your mother) are going to be quite surprised at how many of those guests really plan to attend.
