hey Stage...

I need columns/pillars. Grecian, Roman, empire, doric...you get the idea. I found some cardboard ones but...meh. Any ideas on someplace that won't break the bank? I found some at Lowe's/Home Depot but they only have 32" and I'd like to have at least 2 heights, preferably 3.

Re: hey Stage...

  • If you don't want cardboard then I guess oriental trading is out. I would try an actual building supply company....but why would you want actual stone colums? They are heavy, how would you transport them and store them?
  • A local party rental place in my area has plastic ones, and my florist had two different heights that she provided. Sorry, I know that's no help for your area but maybe it gives you some more places to try?

  • What about photography supply places? I know they sell comlumns for like prom pictures, but I have no clue if there are different sizes or anything.

  • No rentals, we need to purchase. I'll give the photography supply idea a shot. And whoops - I thought I had in there that I was thinking resin would be better. I'm afraid the cardboard ones would fall over too easily.

[QUOTE]We ordered some last year I know. Let me ask my TD tomorrow and see where they got them from.

Thanks! And I figured you would assume resin, probably why i left it out :-P
  • FWIW, my local A.C. Moore carries what I think are resin ones in at least two different heights.  I didn't look closely at the prices since my venue comes with some, but I feel like they were about $30-$40 apiece?
  • Calliopeia, thanks.  We don't have AC Moore, but I am going to check out some local craft/weddingy places this weekend.

Stage, thank you!  Checking the link right now.
  • Thanks mc, that site doesn't have them though. Off to Michael's and Craft Warehouse I go! I'm going to check with our lighting supply place, too, I bet they'll have an idea as well.
