BMs Hair

Is it too controlling to ask my BMs to wear their hair down or mostly down if I'm not paying for their hair to be done? I don't care how they style it, curly straight whatever, just kinda want a more relaxed look.

Re: BMs Hair

  • I don't think that's bad. Before my MOH went and chopped all of her hair off, I asked her to wear it half up, half down (curly or straight, whatever she wanted). Others may disagree with me though.

  • Personally, I think it is, because one can have her hair up in a very relaxed, casual style.  One can also wear her hair down in a very stylized & formal way.  If you're going for a relaxed look, I'd indicate that and then let it go.

When I opened this post it said it was posted by BigBangBazinga.  Now that is one weird screen name.

EDIT:  When I opened it, the name changed to something else and then after I posted this it went back to BBB.  So...if your sn really is BigBangBazinga, may I ask what that means?

  • I don't think it's terrible to ask them, especially if you explain your reasoning behind it. Just don't be mad if someone wants to wear it up because they get hot.

  • I don't think it's that big of a deal... but, more in a "i was thinking that it'd be nice if all the BMs wear their hair down... however they want just down."  see what they say.

my BMs all asked me  how i wanted their hair.  and i told them however they wanted.  so maybe yours will ask you what you have in mind first.

  • Do they normally wear their hair down? I'm just thinking that with pics, dancing, etc, some might prefer to wear their hair up if they normally wear a pony tail. I, personally, like my hair down or half down. But I can't speak for your BMs.

  • I don't see a problem in saying, "Here's the look I'm going for.  What do you think?"  If you aren't paying for their hair, that'll probably take the pressure off of them and maybe they won't feel they have to fork out the cash to get it professionally done.  I see no problem in saying this at all.

  • The screen name is because my fiance and I love the show the Big Bang Theory. Bazinga is one of the main character's catch phrases.

I think its perfectly fine to say "I'd like your alls hair to be up/down/in a beehive."  Thats fine.  Especially since you aren't getting into super specifics.  I mean, who never, ever wears their hair down?  If anyone seriously has a problem with this, I think they're just looking to be disagreeable.

edit: If they want to pull it up after the ceremony and pictures, thats entirely their perogative.  You can't expect it to stay down the whole night, especially once the dancing starts.  THAT would be psycho controlling territory.

TR- it's from the show The Big Bang Theory on CBS-- Sheldon's practical joke punchline is Bazinga.

EDIT: I guess I was too slow.
  • Ah, thank you!  For some reason the "bazinga" part kept making me think of something like "bazongas" or some other euphamism for boobs :)  My bad.

  • Bazinga!

I love that show.  Particularly the episode with Sheldon in the ball pit.  Yup.

  • I don't think there's anything wrong with saying "here's what I was thinking, what do you think". My BMs have all been willing to do whatever I needed of them, I'm just the type of bride that isn't too concerned with it. As long as they all have a dress that's the same color and the same length, the rest is up to them.

  • Sheldon + ball pit = best scene ever.

Sheldon + getting Leonard Nemoy's DNA = 2nd best scene ever.
  • My bms have been very accommodating. I'm sure they wouldn't say anything if I asked them.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't asking them to do something that came off as controlling before I asked them since I know you really don't have much say when you aren't the one paying the bill. Thanks for the imput.

Personally, I would be somewhat annoyed.  I happily wear my hair down most of the time, but if I'm going to be in a wedding, I'm going to put it up.  It means that I don't have to touch it or mess with it all day and know it will keep looking good, and I know I can dance all night without it making me hot/getting sweaty or going flat.

I would be really hesitant about saying anything more than "keep it casual" about their hair.
  • Ha ha you ladies are great! I'm glad to see there are some fellow Big Bang fans here.

I watched all three seasons last week on Thursday/Friday (I'm a little behind on what's awesome). Buddy barely had time to get in the door before I demanded he sit down and watch Sheldon in the ball pit. Oh my god. Sheldon in the ball pit.

  • Oh, and I need to add a candidate for third best scene ever, if first and second are taken.

I just THINK about this scene and I'm trying not to giggle uncontrollably.  I <3 Sheldon in a pink, puffy heart kind of way.

  •  This is still one of my favorite moments. I about died laughing.
  • There's also the Wil Wheaton episode.  I mean, anything with Wil Wheaton in it has to be up there on the awesome list.

I do have to say I loved last week when they all had to dress as comic book characters. Sheldon is my fav!

  • I was brushing my teeth the other night and left Buddy watching an episode, and came out of the bathroom when I heard him laughing hysterically. He said he had just seen my "smile twin."

Hm. I just don't see it.

I love when Sheldon smiles. It's even funnier when Sheldon hugged penny after the whole gift basket/ Leonard Nimoy exchange.
  • Which Wil Wheaton episode? Because both were awesome, with the first being slightly more awesome because he dragged MeMaw into it.

Teej, you're not nearly maniacal enough.
  • There was a SECOND Wil Wheaton episode?  HOW did I miss this?

  • Hence why it is ranked as the #2 scene, BBB.

Oh, and I don't like Leonard. He gets a big "eh" from me every episode.

  • I'd be annoyed.  If I'm paying to get my hair done for your wedding, I want it UP.  I have a ton of hair, and it gets HOT dancing, etc.  I'd rather have it up and enjoy the dance floor.  And, if I'm a BM, I don't really want to pay for a style that I'm going to ruin not long after with a ponytail.  I think it's fine to ask for casual/relaxed, but specifying up/down/half up/etc. is a little much.

Honestly, I think that's a little much regardless of who's paying, but that's just me.
