Hostess Gifts Question

My shower is tomorrow and is being hosted by FI's 5 aunts. I am trying to find a hostess gift for them, but with the rent and student loan payments I have due this week... I really can't afford 5 gifts, even if they were $10 apiece. Would it be horribly tacky for me to just mention how much I appreciated the shower in the thank you notes I send them?

Re: Hostess Gifts Question

  • I think a thoughtful thank you note is nice.  Maybe when you have a little xtra cash you could get them a plant or a candle or something small.
  • Why not get them each an African Violet plant and put some pretty foil & ribbon around the bottom
  • Go to your local grocery store and buy them a bouquet of flowers. Even buy each a Rose. How about a bottle of wine. Just something small to say Thank You. I am sure they would appreciate anything.
  • It would not be tacky at all.  Just make sure those TY notes are postmarked with Monday's date.  Have fun at the shower!
  • I think nice cards for each aunt with a handwritten notes inside would be just fine.   I personally love blank-inside cards.  Target also has some really nice Papyrus cards that are only a few dollars each.

  • Have fun at your shower! Mine is tomorrow too! I only have my MOH hosting and I got her a small gift - necklace - she can never get enough jewelry! I bought my thank you cards already and addressed and postaged them already (I was informed of the guest list) That way I have no excuse to not send them out Sunday! Smile

</div><div>Addressing and writing thank-you notes doesn't take that long.  Maybe an hour or two depending on the number of guests you have, and not having to look up addresses.   Pre-addressing and stamping seems a little excessive to me.
