Delicious Desserts - NWR

So, FILs are coming over for dinner on Saturday - and I've never cooked for them before.  Am a bit nervous (they're big foodies), but I'm decent in the kitchen and I want to make something yummy.

I'm making confit of duck legs as a main course (possibly with an Asian twist: http://tinyurl.com/y89odzo ), but I'm not sure what to do for dessert. Any ideas?

So far I've thought about
- caramel apple tarts with vanilla ice cream
- homemade strawberry soft serve (frozen strawberries blended with sugar and cream)

But I'm just not feeling it.  Does anyone have an amazing dessert recipe they could recommend?

I've never made the mint fudge sauce, but add about a tablespoon of instant espresso dissolved in a couple of teaspoons of vanilla extract. Whisk it into the eggs. These are awesome served with French vanilla ice cream or raspberry sorbet.

FI's fave is creme brulee, which I have yet to try making, but there are lots of flavor twists you can put on it (lemon, cinnamon, vanilla bean, etc) and serve it with fruit. Also, you can make it way ahead and just burn the sugar right before you serve it.

I am always a fan of simple, warm, chocolate chip cookies and ice cream. You can have the dough ready and just put them in the oven right after dinner. Garnish with mint leaves or chocolate shavings.

Wow, both those things sound absolutely amazing! Now I want chocolate chip cookies. And molten chocolate cake! Thanks for the tips - the creme brulee idea is good too, I'm just a bit nervous to make them because I don't have a blow-torch, and I'm nervous with the grill setting on my oven.  Cinnamon creme brulee sounds really yummy.
