Any gamers? XBOX Live problems

So, we haven't been able to get on XBOX Live since Christmas and we are stumped. Wifi is working fine. We have a wireless adapter on the XBOX, and we've tried replacing the wireless adapter as well as plugging in an Ethernet cable. XBOX Live account is active. Any ideas?

I asked DH.  Here's what he suggests:  Have you tested XBox Live under the network settings??  There's a test XBox Live button.  It should check your network connection, internet or XBox Live itself.  If the network isn't connected, and your cables/internet work, it could be a problem witht he XBox hardware itself.  If the network is ok, but internet is not, try disconnecting it and connecting direct to the modem (not through routers, etc.) to try to narrow the problem.  Hope that helps.  If so, my DH is a genius!!

Ditto from my husband. He also says restarting the router commonly reboots Live.

I would love for XBOX Live to not work in our house for at least a week!  Then I could actually have a full conversation with H without repeating myself.  Damn those new COD maps!

We've tried everything you've suggested, and DH was on the phone with Xbox for over an hour last night doing all these steps again.  Right now we're thinking either there's a problem with the console or we need to switch ISPs.  The guy at Xbox speculated that our upload speed isn't fast enough, but it's odd that we didn't have a problem until 6 weeks ago.  Thanks for your help ladies (and DHs!), just thought I'd see if anyone else has experienced this. 

And Maggie - I hear you!  I don't miss H's Halo sessions one bit, but we can't stream Amazon Prime either so I'd like to get back up and running for that reason!

I know how you feel. When the COD comes on, I get tuned out. Like talking to a brick wall.

OP-try resetting the router. I dont know how you have gone this long without it! I would die without my Netflix on the Xbox.

I would say it may be the Xbox itself.  We've gone through 2 of them in the last 4 years.  They don't last, but since we've invested so much in games and Rock Band songs, we keep replacing it.
