Homie in the etiquette questions post made me think of this. I hate the word "negative." It's overused in general, but particularly on this board. Negative is code for "I don't like what you have to say." It's tired and repeated to the point of meaninglessness.
"Family values." Every time I hear a politician start spouting off about family, I know what his real agenda is: gay bashing and woman hating. That's a bit of hyperbole, but whatever. I know immediately that when the word family comes out of a politician's mouth, his views aren't going to jive with mine.
