Should or should not?

First off, my idea of BM dresses were red and knee length... Thats it. I don't care where they buy it from or what material it is made from, just as long as they wear it down the aisle.

Now here is my question, should I get the girls together and go shopping for dresses, if so, when is an appropriate time?  Or, should I just talk to them, give them hints on where to go, and just check up on them a few months before the wedding?

  • Do you want all the same color red or do you want different shades?  Because red with one company might be a bright apple red and than red with another company might be a deep dark almost burgandy red!! I would take a day and go shopping with them (either all together or seperately)

  • I agree. If it matters to you what shade of red, I would try to go together.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I agree about the shades. I'm doing the same thing with knee length and navy and I'm saying buy it whever. Honestly, it's easier for you and I like pictures where it's not matchy matchy. Check out Lia's bio- she did it and it looked fabulous. Your BMs will thank you for letting them pick what they want and they are completely in charge of budget so awkwardness there.

I personally like it when the girls have their own style but they are all in the same shade. I told my girls Davids Bridal lapis and I went one on one with my MOH who is very self conscious and I knew she wouldn't feel comfortable trying dresses on with two of my super skinny bridesmaids. Those two I plan on shopping with next month and the fourth I'll go with her in May once we know whether or not her IVF has been a success. I think going with them is fun and great girl time.
  • I asked my BMs to buy any dress in grey and floor length. All of my BMs live in different cities, so I just went shopping with each one of them when I visited them. However, it wasn't like "I'm visiting you so that we can go buy a dress." It was fun shopping with them, so I'd say go with them if you have time. I offered opinions as to what looks good on them as they tried on different dresses (just like you'd offer your opinion when you go for every day cloths shopping), but that was it.

  • I was in a wedding last summer where the bride had pretty relaxed requirements for our dresses. We lived all over so getting together to shop would have been hard so she ended up just making a pinterest board with a bunch of different suggestions in a variety of price ranges that were what she was looking for. She told us we could chose one of those dresses or pick something else using those dresses as inspiration. I think out of the 4 of us, 2 bought dresses from the board and 2 picked something with a similar color pallate/style as the dresses on the board. It made for a really great looking group of ladies, if I do say so myself!
  • My SIL told us what designer and what color, and left the style to us - thatt guaranteed that they all matched, and it was very easy on everyone.
