Program wording

Is it ok to leave titles like Mr., Mrs. and Dr. off our program completely?   I'm a doctor and he's and officer in the military and we aren't using our titles at any point on paper or in the ceremony because we dont think it sounds very personal, too "buisness".  What about the wedding party?  Can people just be "Julie Smith" and not "Mrs. or Dr. Julie Smith".   All invites will be titled appropriately, fyi.

I feel like if no one has a title in the program, its not offiensive but will other people see this as a problem?  Just curious and not a big deal in the end either way.

Re: Program wording

  • We didn't use titles.  It's fine to leave them off.

    This.
  • I don't think I've ever seen titles in a program.

    Me neither.
  • Thanks!  Most of the weddings I've been in or to had Dr and Ms. on program and I just didn't like it.  Glad to know its not expected.

  • I say etiquette wise your in the clear, but you might want to be careful with other people, specially parents or grandparents.
  • You made me laugh.  If we used titles on our programs, you'd have to hunt to find the actual names:-)  We have a few doctors, I'm in the military...obviously you get the picture.

Yeah, I  think it's fine to leave them off.  My sister did, and she was in a similar situation.
