18 days before my wedding.. what I am forgeting?

I'm working on my timeline, and also trying to make a 'pack list'. Our wedding is about 1.5 hrs away from where we live .... I always forget something while packing. So what is the number 1 thing you always forget?

I always end up forgetting underwear, as weird as that sounds. Or toothbrush or some toiletry.

ETA:  I always end up having to buy underwear from somewhere when we go away because of my cool habit.

  • I never remember pajamas.
  • I tend to forget pjs, too. Or extra contacts in case something happens to the one's I'm wearing.

  • Cell phone charger. :)
  • AK, phone charger is my H.  ALWAYS.  It's sad because I even tell him and he still forgets the stupid thing.

The first time my grandfather went to Paris on business, he forgot socks and underwear.  The bellhop at the hotel pointed him in the direction of a really fancy store, and he had no idea what the exchange rate was.  He ended up spending more than $50 on underwear and socks, and my grandmother almost killed him when she found out.

I ALWAYS bring extra contacts, but I tend to forget my glasses. Which sucks. I like to take my contacts out an hour or two before bed (when my eyes start to get scratchy), so I can read in bed without my contacts. Also, hair brush. I have a back up in my purse, but I'll sometimes forget my regular one. Basically, last-minute items that I can't pre-pack.

WR items, I forgot out "just married" sign for the car and our toasting flutes. I honestly didn't realize I'd forgotten the toasting flutes until I found them while cleaning 2 weeks later.

Oh it is.  On the bright side, I have tons of them now.  It's just not something I think about.  I'm always trying to coordinate outfits and forget the undergarments.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-yell.gif" border="0" alt="Yell" title="Yell" />

That sucks!  I have a friend that went over seas this summer and when they arrived in Italy the airline had "misplaced" their bags.  They were left at one of their layovers.  They had to buy all new clothes.  In Italy.  She said they spent a fortune.  The second to last day they were there their bags arrived at their hotel (the airline shipped them.)

  • Yeah we've gotten so bad with the phone charger thing.... we now have 1 at H's mom's, 1 at H's grandma's, 1 at my parents', and 1 car charger in each of our cars.
  • I tend to forget socks.
  • I forget underwear and deodorant ALL THE TIME when I make quick little weekend trips and stuff where I'm packing really quickly after work.

My advice would be to start making a list now and whenever you think of something else, add it to the list. Then use the list when you're packing. I try to think of all of the scenarios I might be in and what would I need for them.

Don't forget things like camera batteries, cell phone chargers, clothes to relax in like a sweathshirt or yoga pants, and travel detergent if you think you might want to do a load of laundry while you're on vaca (I don't, but some people do!).

That would really suck!!! I had a friend have her luggage misplaced when she went on a trip for a pharmacy conference while in college. She had to walk over a mile to the nearest Walmart to buy suitable shoes for the conference. I think your Italy story sounds much worse though!
  • Go through a day of getting ready, and write down EVERY SINGLE THING you use/put on.  Bring those.  Then add on the special extras that you don't use every day, which is a little easier.

  • don't forget your envelopes of final payments for vendors or thank you cards for your parents/bridal party if you're doing that.

[QUOTE]I'm in the pajama camp too, but I'm bored, so I'll make a list of things for your pack list: Attire: -all regular clothes for the amount of time you'll be away (shirts, pants, underthings, socks, pajamas, swimming suit?, dresses- particular ones for RD, morning after, etc, jackets, shoes) -all required jewellery for Wedding day and other events -obviously, all wedding day attire: underthings, dress, veil (if using), shoes, and outerwear if necessary Things from the bathroom: toothbrush toothpaste mouthwash deodorant perfume (if you use it) all necessary makeup hair brush & any necessary hair accessories (hairspray, clips, bobby pins, bands, barettes etc) shower cap razor makeup remover lotion qtips nail polish if doing your own & remover; nail clippers, file shampoo & conditioner if you like your own shower gel etc if you like your own blow dryer & other tools if necessary tweezers if you use them any medication you regular take. Also pack advil/tylenol, and your preference of stomach calmer, allergy meds if you will be somewhere where allergies of you or bridal party might flare up. I would also make list of things to pack by day/event. What do you need to pack for the day before. What needs to go to the Rehearsal? RD? What needs to be available when you are getting ready? What needs to go to the ceremony site before the ceremony, what do you need to bring with you to the ceremony? What will you need during pictures (makeup/hair touchups, snacks/drinks, props- our lifesaver was insect repellant)? What needs to go to the reception site before hand? What do you need to bring with you to the reception? Is there anything else you need to drop off before the wedding once you are in the place you are getting married- do you know the addressses & phone numbers of where you need to go, and what needs to go there (cake toppers or riboon to baker, music to DJ, copy of program to photographer etc etc?) Especially if you don't have a DOC, make a list of all the things you want saved from the reception: any decor, centerpieces, speeches, etc. What do you need for after the reception, and where will that stuff be? (Will you have already checked in to a hotel if that is where you are staying, will your things already be there, or does someone need to drop them off, how will you get there, etc). Basically, try to do a walk through/play by play of the whole weekend, as you make your lists, and hopefully you won't forget anything. And I second the suggestion to keep your lists handy to add to them for the next 2 weeks. Even start organizing all of those things into now. I packed boxes as I went, and clearly labelled where the box needed to go, and what was in it. It made our final pack up & go very smooth (our wedding was 4 hours away). Enjoy!

WOW ... wayyyy ahead of me on this packing thing! Thank you!!!!! I will use this
  • I tend to just forget a hairbrush; which is why I created a "travel pack" of things that inclue a hair brush deoderant, cell phone chargers, and other needed things that never leave my suit case.
