How many events would you attend for your best friend?

My best friend/MOH got engaged about a month ago and decided to get married this fall in a really small ceremony in CA where she lives.  Then she's planning on having two receptions next summer, one in CA and one in our childhood hometown (6 hour drive from where I live now).  I am definitely attending the ceremony, but am undecided on whether I will attend either or both of the receptions.  (Obviously I have a lot of time to decide on those.)

Just curious how many of these things you would attend for your best friend?

I think it depends on the situation... I mean, if it was financially feasable I would try to attend both receptions...
But i'm not sure why your friend is having two. But that's none of my business, really.

I think that any best friend will go to as many as she can handle, and if that is just the one reception, then that is more than understandable.

I'd probably go to the ceremony and then one of receptions.
  • I'd ask her if it was more important for me to be at the ceremony or reception in California and try to do one of them, but I wouldn't even consider doing both. Even for the reception in your hometown -- 6 hours is a hike. I wouldn't feel obligated to go to that one, but would consider it if I could wrap it around seeing other family and friends at the same time.

I believe the one in our hometown is at her mother's insistence and her mother will really be planning it.

  • The ceremony and at least 1 reception.  Maybe both if I could swing it :)

  • Definitely the ceremony and one reception, likely the local one. Possibly both if traveling to the hometown one worked for my plans and there were old friends I'd like to connect with there too.
