Where did or will you go on your honeymoon?

Thanks everyone for your information about the bahamas. I was wondering if you could tell me where you went or where you will be going on your honeymoon. Fi and I are looking at a 5 night stay, hoping for an all inclusive but our budget is not unlimited and I am worried we may not be able to get anything good with our money. I would love to go on our honeymoon right after the wedding but if we have to wait and add some more money to the budget we can. I just wanted to get some ideas of where people honeymoon since I know nothing about traveling.

I know there is a honeymoon board but It moves about as quickly as my local board!!! The E board seems to be one of the busiest boards besides SB and I think alot of the same people post of both boards.TIA for you help!

We went to Secrets Capri in the Riviera Maya and we keep going back because we love it so so so much.

We are going to Sandals Resort Negril in Jamaica.

I think we're doing Sandals Grande St. Lucian.  My brother (who is, I think, going to Nova Scotia) tells me I'm as cliche as anyone alive, but I can't wait to just chill on the beach for a week and a half and drink as much as I want.

We went to Aruba and stayed at the Bucuti - really enjoyed it. I've heard a lot of people say that Aruba isn't the best place for AI because there are several good restaurants (and I agree, but we've also never done AI).

We're going to Maui.  Airfare is pretty pricey though.  We lucked out and got a $1200 voucher from my parents being bumped.

We're staying in a private villa in Dominical, Costa Rica. I can't wait!

We were initially planning on Mexico by my mom is all nervous about all the violence and stuff going on down there. Travel agent says dont worry NBD at all. My cousin who was  a TA and tavels a lot says she would be worried to go to mexico right now.

I also hear about all the crazy stuff in jamaica, but it does fit into our budget.

I was thinking Nassau but didnt hear that great of things about it so now I am just confused!! Now I know why people make the guys plan it!!

We stayed in Disney World after our wedding, then went on our official honeymoon a couple of months later - we flew to puerto rico then visited St. Thomas, St John, St Kitts/Nevis, St. Martin, St. Lucia, Dominica, and Barbados. It was a blast

We went to Costa Rica for 12 days.  While it was fun, if I could do it again I would pick someplace a little more modern, as I found out that I'm far more finicky than I thought I would be.

We are going on a 7 day cruise through the Mexican Riviera. It stops in Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. 

It's typical and overdone but we love cruises and it is nice to be able to have several stops and not be stuck in one place.

We went to Japan for two weeks.  It was awesome and the trip of a lifetime, but it definitely wasn't as relaxing as an all-inclusive, relaxing on the beach honeymoon would be!

We're trying to swing South Africa for two weeks but not sure. We were going to do ireland and scotland but not anymore (because those countries in mid january just don't seem like a good idea)

Mexico? I feel safe all the time. I can't believe your friend doesn't feel safe there. That's really weird to me.

Yeah, they tell you VERY specifically to never leave your resort. And if you do, they're very quick to say, this is your own choice, we aren't responsible. GOOD LUCK.

I would pick Mexico over Jamaica.  You'll be fine at an all inclusive.  We were originally going to go Secrets Capri, but my parents offered us that voucher for the honeymoon and it had to be used in the U.S.

We went to Sandals Royal Carribean Montego Bay Jamaica. We loved it.

We were on a budget as well. We did 5 nights, and it was an AI for about $5,000. The food was great and the drinks were even better. I have never drank so much in my life. We were also able to go out on tours (which were extra and we paid for) and see the other Sandals' resorts, which was cool.

Yeah I've been to Mexico and loved it. We were in Cozumel. Some selling points for Aruba... cleanest tap water in the world. Seriously, they have a desalination plant on the island and it really is delicious. And they have their own beer they brew on the island called Belashi (not sure spelling) that my fiance loved. Can you tell we loved aruba? lol

We're not much for beaches or, like, not doing stuff. We also didn't want to spend a lot on overseas travel 'cause we spent a lot on the wedding, so we went to Napa for 5 days.

We are going to Maui for 5 nights.  I know its completely un-original, but my FI is terrified of flying and Hawaii is one of the shortest flights we can take to get somewhere tropical.  Plus neither of us have been there so I'm sure it will be great.  We opted to rent a condo instead of staying in a hotel or resort because the restaurants there are extremely expensive and eveyone suggested I get a place that has a full kitchen so we can make our own meals for a couple of the nights.  Have fun wherever you decide!

We went to Fiji for 10 days (plus two days traveling).  7 days on an adventure cruise in eastern Fiji and 3 days hanging out in Savu Savu.

Yeah. I was in Scotland (Edinburgh, which is really Southern Scotland) in August '09 and it was pretty rainy and mid-60s. I loved it and all, but they were like, "Yeah, this is typical summer weather" so I don't even want to fathom what winter would be like.

We want to go to Europe.  My top 2 countries to see are Spain and Italy, so hopefully we can visit at least those 2.  We aren't going right after the wedding, probably about 6 months down the road after we've saved up for it.

I haven't been to Jamaica but I know people that went to Ocho Rios for spring break in college and they def bought drugs (and not just pot) from the resort employees. To me that makes it seems like it is sketchy even if you never leave the resort. And who wants to spend their honeymoon around cracked out college kids. (OP, maybe you can tell from this an my response to your other post I have friends that did crazy spring breaks.)

FI and I are going to Spain (and maybe Portugal) for our honeymoon. We both grew up in Florida so relaxing on the beach isn't super exciting for us.
