Poll: In lieu of traditional table numbers...

For our (very) small DW in wine country, we'll only have 4-6 tables. We were thinking we'd place a bottle of wine on each table to identify them. The escort cards would read something like: Mr. and Mrs. Readytodance, Chateau Ste Michelle. We are thinking we may choose significant years, or blends, and place a tiny frame explaining the significance in a short paragraph on the tables.

What do you think?

  • Very cute idea!  If you do the paragraphs, have the name of the wine too - just to make the tables easier to identify.
  • I think it's cute.
We did wedding traditions for ours, then each table had a card with the explanation for why we do that tradition at parties. Such as "Sealed with a Kiss" "Best man" "Cutting the Cake" "Rice Thrown", etc.

Agree w/ PP.  If you are going with something besides numbers, make sure that title is prominent (ie, guests don't have to squint at a bottle lable to figure out if it's the right table.)    Given that there are so few tables, it should be lovely.
  • We are using mountains we have climbed, our favorite hiking trails, and our favorite waterfalls as our table names.
  • We did almost the exact same thing. We love to drink wine and so we used different bottles that we'd saved as table markers.

  • Thanks so much everyone for the awesome feedback. I agree - I think we'd need to make the titles pretty prominent, so no one needs to squint.

    You gals rock! Cool

That will be helpful. As you can see from the pic above, we tried to choose bottles where the label was easy to read. We also placed them in alphabetical order in the room.

  • I'd like it, but I would do very different wines, and maybe number them anyway.

  • We're planning on doing different CTA stops as our table names (Clark/Division, Addison, Fullerton, etc.). I'm contemplating mocking up the CTA map that you see on the train as a map of the room, with each "stopp" showing where the tables are in the layout of the room.

I'm all for unique ways of doing things! Chateau St. Michelle is awesome, btw :)
