Thank you note??

So we were given this as a wedding gift:


Yeah.

So I'm writing out my thank you notes (I realize I'm behind) and I have no idea how to word a thank you for this. "Thank you for the interesting gift"?
I was thinking along the lines of joking and saying my house Christmas theme will be Nightmare Before Christmas and this will work perfectlly It was backordered (she knew and told me it would be) and we didn't have a chance to use it for Halloween and I feel kinda implying that it's not going to get used for another year (next Halloween) 

Or am I better off with just a generic "thank you Can't wait to use it"

FWIW the couple is a goofy couple to begin with. The lady was really excited about getting this for us and to know our reaction. She told me "And you must tell me if you think I'm crazy for getting this as a wedding gift!" when she emailed me to let me know that half of it was backordered (the pitcher part) because she knew all I was going to get before we left for the wedding was a box with the hands.

I think you are better off  Saying "Thanks can't wait to use it." Implying that you won't use it will only cause hurt feelings.

"interesting" might sound like a pseudonym for "awful"

I would probably go with something like "We can't wait for a chance to use the fun beverage dispenser you sent us!"

oh, no I defiantly plan on using it. It's actually two separate items.
This is the dispenser:

So I really will be using it during the holidays for drinks. They actaully have several different stands available. But I'm not opposed to wrapping garland around a skeleton hand while having all the in-laws over for Christmas Eve dinner.
It's the obviously Halloween themed stand that she purchased that I have don't know quite how to mention/thank.

Oh, I read it as you wouldn't use it at all. Not that you wouldn't use it until halloween. Sorry. I'm getting tired. 

I don't see anything wrong with saying we can't wait to use the dispenser. 

I don't think they would be offended that you aren't going to use it until next halloween. I would hope that they would expect that.

I vote for this - it is perfect.  You're pointing out it is a useful gift that has a really fun Halloween feature to it.

I was very confused until I realized the hands were separate. Just write her a note saying you can't wait to use the pitcher for the upcoming holidays, and you're excited to use it on the fabulous stand next halloween.

Good thing she emailed you, I might have freaked out if I opened a box of random creepy hands with nothing else, lol.

I would just tell them that you can't wait to use it.

By the way, is that a papillion in your signature picture?  I have always wanted a papillion.  My aunt had one and she was the sweetest dog.

Well, maybe it's not THAT weird, given that you got married around Halloween? I'm trying to find excuses for the weird lady. FWIW, I really like the pitcher sans hands.

I think a more generic thank you is good in this case.

Maybe:  Thanks for your thoughtful gift!  We can't wait to use the dispenser at our Christmas party this year and are excited to be able to use the hand stand for Halloween celebrations!
