Craft Opinion

If you saw snowflakes like this at someone's house around Christmas time would you think they are pretty or lame?  I'm considering them as a crochet project.

Re: Craft Opinion

  • We have crochet snowflakes and angels that hang on our tree, so I have to go with pretty.  It takes a lot of starch to keep them stiff.
  • I think they're pretty but it would just depend on how/where they're displayed.

This is something I was curious about.  One website also mentioned elmer's glue.  Have you ever tried it?

  • I would love that around Christmas. I might also be biased, because we decorate our house in blues and silvers, so that picture looks awesome to me.

To keep them stiff, couldn't you seal the back of them with fabric-safe glaze or something like that.

  • My grandma always used watered down Elmers glue on her doilies.  She would pin them out on a piece of card board then squeeze it on and brush it around..

Sorry, I went to lunch and missed your question.

Nope, I've always just sprayed the heck out of them with Niagara spray starch and ironed the snowflakes.  It doesn't have to be done every year, but after a while they'll yellow a little bit and I'll have to wash them and starch them all over again.
  • Thanks for the tips.
