Work Invites

So I work at a hotel part time. I've been there 2 and 1/2 years. One of the front desk girls and I have gotten really close, we get together outside of work, etc, so I'm clearly inviting her and the hubby to my wedding. I also plan inviting the 2 managers, they are both very nice ladies, and i think it is the respectable thing to do as they are in a higher position then me, I would also like to invite the lady who runs housekeeping. Because she isn't actually a housekeeper her office is right near me, and we chat constantely.  My question is do I have to invite the other front desk people becasue I am inviting the 1 girl? and do I have to invite all the housekeepers because im inviting the one lady who runs it? I see the housekeepers each about 30 minutes a week at the most. I normally only work this job Sat and Sun. The other front desk people I usually tell them anything i need to tell them and that is it. most of them i dont even know much about and i think it would be akward for me and them to invite them but i want to do whats right.

</div><div>How many people will you be leaving out if you don't invite them?</div><div>
</div><div>I worked at a hotel front desk part time too at the time of my wedding, and had a situation pretty much identical to yours. Literally, I wanted to invite the two managers, the primary 1st shift and primary 3rd shift, plus the head housekeeper because that's who I was the closest to. I would have left out only 5 people, which made me feel super sad so I just invited everyone.</div><div>
</div><div>FWIW, only 1 of the managers showed up and the 1st shift worker.

  • It would be 4 front desk people and 7 housekeepers.

I actually work at 2 hotels, this one is my part time one, so i regulary work 1st shift on the weekends and normally thats it. occasionally ill pick up a random shift if someone wants a day off.

I see the housekeepers when they pick up there paperwork and keys and then agian when they turn everything back in.

<div>Yeah, I feel you. Honestly it's up to you! If you decide not to invite the others, then don't mention your wedding at work, and make sure to mail the invites and don't hand deliver them at work.</div>

You only have to invite who you want.  I could have found reason to invite just about all of my co-workers.  I worked in a school building and you can imagine how many people I interact with daily.  I only invited one person on my team which consisted of 4 people besides me.  I invited my two bosses and a few other people in the building.  I gave them the invites at work and left it at that.  Of course I wanted to invite many more from work but just couldn't.  Don't feel bad and you don't have to explain yourself.  (As crazy as it may sound..there are many times these days when I am happy I am not invited to a wedding.)
  • thanks!!  i was sort of afraid that if i chose to invite them, it would like i was being gift grabby since i dont know them that well!
