Irrational Irritations

I haven't seen one of these in awhile, and I have one so here goes.

I get irrationally irritated when when I'm in the bathroom at work, and it is empty, and someone comes in and uses the stall right next to me.  Really, you can't put a little space between us?

Anyone else?

  • I have that one too adamar.

People blowing their nose in front of me - hate it!

Shirts tucked in but no belt.

I agree with this. I have a LOT of work bathroom irritations.

I'm irrationally irritated that my birthday present from my mom has been delayed. Because she's getting me new sunglasses and my old ones broke, so I am now sunglass-less and obviously don't want to buy new ones temporarily. But you know, it's a gift, so I can't actually be mad about it.

  • -When I turn the work phone on at 9am to several voicemails, and/or several immediate phone calls.  WTF people, do you seriously wait until exactly 9am  to start calling me?  Give me some coffee time.

-When my MIL calls both H and I's phone while she knows we are both working, and then questions why his is always off and I never answer.  Leave an effing voicemail then if you want something, and I'll check it and call you back.

Slow walkers. I did a lot of walking this weekend and I think I got caught behind the slowest people on planet Earth.
  • I really don't like it when anyone comes the bathroom when I'm in there. That's a little irrational.

I also don't like it when people pull in front of me on the road. I don't know how fast/slow they are going drive, whether they ride the brakes, how much space they leave to the car in front, etc.

  • mery, I was irrationally irritated when I found my sunglasses broke in my purse last week. I had to buy a pair last minute and was pissed when I walked outside and found they weren't as dark as I thought they were. I liked my old glasses better!!

That makes me soooooooo mad! Especially when I look behind me and there is no one there! Couldn't they just wait an extra two seconds to let me pass?
  • My irritation is when people who park in the lot where I do for classes double park (even though they have little cars) and then I have to crawl through my passenger door to get to the drivers seat. . . I guess that's not entirely irrational though.

  • Liv I hate sitting directly next to strangers unless I have to.  I think it's just common courtesy to leave an open seat if possible.  I totally understand if it's sold out or jam packed, but clearly it wasn't.

I'm irritated at my hair. It's a big ol' frizzy mess today, so I just gave in and put it in a ponytail.

It's irrational because I have absolutely no one I need to impress or look good for today.
  • I am irritated that I was going to have the church print the bulletins, since it should be cheaper.  But upon further examination, it might not be THAT much cheaper, and could be a bigger hassle.

Guess I'm working on programs tonight!
  • When H keeps trying to slide the blankets off me when he's in bed, so he can get some more.  Yank them or leave them, but if you keep trying to slide them quietly, it's going to wake me up and get me irritated.  He did that all last night.

When H's cousin calls my cell phone at work, doesn't get an answer, then calls me from her mother's house.  I love her to pieces, I do, but if I don't pick up it just means that I can't, not that I'm screening your calls.  P.S. I know your mom's home phone number, too.

  • I am irrationally irritated that we have so few people in this office (5). This week the girl that covers that phones for me on lunch and breaks is going to Hawaii for a wedding, and everyone else makes a HUGE deal about watching the phones. And then while we have 4 people in the office, 1 is going to be out on Thursday & Friday for a health issue, and then Monday for jury duty, and then on Monday someone else is not coming in since she has to go to the doctors. So there will just be me and one other guy that always "hrrumphs" if I have to go to the damn bathroom. This week is going to suck balls.
  • I agree with pretty much all of those.

And also to go along with the work bathroom stalls, I get irritated when I go in there and someon is in "my" stall...it throws everything off for me.

Yeah Liv, I probably would have moved seats. Sitting next to people in an empty theater is weird.
  • Also, I get irritated when traffic is bad and I leave a reasonable distance between myself and the car in front of me, and someone uses that space to cut me off.  Then I have to make more space, starting the process over again.  Why am I punished for not wanting to rear-end someone?

Agreed! I also hate when someone is sitting in the left lane with a turning signal on and the person behind them HAS to cut you off and drive around them. Chill. Wait 30 seconds and they will turn, I promise. We allll have places to go.

  • Oh and slow walkers is a HUGE pet peeve for me.  Even more annoying to me though is the people who just don't pay attention when they walk, like when in a group, and don't walk in a straight line, and just randomly stop for no reason to look at a store or something.  I seriously consider knocking into them just to make them realize there are people behind them they are affecting.

  • Ooh - can I play?  I get irrationally irritated when people use their little baby voices/pet names for their SO out in public.  You're a grown adult - talk like one!  We had a couple over on Saturday night where the girl did that constantly, and I wanted to stab my ears.

I have a lot of driving related irritations that I won't bore you all with.

I was really irritated yesterday when I couldn't figure out how to add my husband as a friend on weight watchers. I can log into his account or you know, just ask him about his point points/weight, but it really bothered me that I couldn't figure it out. I think I tried for about 30 minutes before I gave up.

Yes! This happens to me every day. I hate it.

Also, when people ride my behind during rush hour. Dude, it's physically impossible for me to go any faster. Get off my ass. I'm shocked I haven't been rear-ended yet. *Knocks on wood*
  • I miss my old manager. He would give me a good 30 minutes in the morning before he started talking to me about work.

I have a CW now who is SOOO chipper in the morning and is all "HEY! HOW'S IT GOING? WHATCHA KNOW? HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND?" as soon as I come into the office. And then is all WHATS WRONG????? when I act grumpy.

Yes! This drives me crazy too. And most people seem to have zero awareness of where they are and who else is around them. I really need to stop living in tourist destinations because they are the worst when it comes to randomly stopping for no reason.

  • 1. When your sitting in the window seat on an airplane, and people refuse to get up to let you out and just move their feet to the side. Really? Get up lazy bum. I don't want to put my ass or boobs in your face just to get out.

    2. People who drive like a-holes, weaving in and out of traffic, cutting people off, no blinker, and then who end up right next to you at the traffic light.

    3. Loud talkers in public (either on the phone or to real people). I really don't care what you have to say.

    4. The bathroom stall thing mentioned above.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Irrational Irritations : THIS. My boss starts emailing me at like 6:30 AM (I work from home) and when I turn on my computer at 8, a full hour before my workday actually starts, there is always at least one email that says, "well, since I haven't heard back from you yet..." I've asked her multiple times if she wants to rework my hours, and she says no, yet I always feel like I'm behind when I start work an hour early and already have 20 emails from her.

<div>Yeah I work from home too.  I set my alarm for 8:30, but I'm usually up before then anyways, and come down and get coffee and sit on the couch with my laptop.  I like getting some knotting in first as I wake up and drink my coffee, but I hate turning my work phone on too messages.  And of course I always check them just in case it's one of our 9am appointments cancelling or something and I want to let the nurse know.  </div><div>
</div><div>Luckily my boss is fully aware that I roll out of bed right before the work day starts.  It's just our clients who annoy me. </div>

  • I get irrationally irritated when people refer to their SO's as "their honey."

Our officiant actually referred to FI as that when she was talking to me (as in "and your honey's name?").

I hate it with a passion.
  • I will second (third?  tenth?) the bathroom stall irritation.  This happened to me a few days ago in a huge bathroom.  Come on people!

I'm sure I'll think of more original examples, but today everything is an irritation before lunch.
