Is the Pastor always invited to the wedding reception?

Is it etiquette to invite the Pastor and his wife as a guest at the reception?

Re: Is the Pastor always invited to the wedding reception?

  • You most certainly can invite them to the wedding, but many times, unless they are a very close family friend, they will decline.  But not inviting them is not poor etiquette.

  • We invited ours, but all our family events have happened in that church with her attending most of them so it would be very odd if we didn't invite her and her husband.

I would err on the side of inviting them. If they don't want to attend, they can always decline.
  • I would invite. Esepecially if it's a family church.

Ours is just a vendor, so he won't be invited.

  • Yes, you should invite them. If they are not close to the family, they will likely decline. But they should receive an invite anyway.

[QUOTE]If you have a relationship with them, it's polite to invite them to the reception. If they are just someone you hired like any other vendor, no need to invite them to the reception.

</div><div>^^^^This.  Sort of.  I am inviting my pastor and his wife.  My fiance and I have never met either of them (well, my fiance thinks he might have once) but we picked him because he is the pastor of my FFIL's church where we are getting married.  And we chose the pastor because of the family connection.  So, while we do not know him personally, we did invite him and his wife.</div>
