Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Christian Ceremony

We are a Christian couple wanting to do a non-traditional ceremony. For so long I have wanted to wash each other's feet but FI is not completely sold on the idea yet. Does anyone have any other great ceremony ideas that will share our faith but not a "religion"?

Re: Christian Ceremony

  • You could take communion together. I know they traditionally do this in Catholic ceremonies, but my boss got married this summer and they took communion during their Christian ceremony. It was really special for them.
  • Great idea! Thanks!
  • Ooh! We are washing each other's feet at my wedding. If you could convice your FI to let you, I don't think he would regret it. My cousin did that for her wedding, and it was so moving to see them washing each other's feet in servanthood. If that makes sense. I am really excited for it!We are also having communion, but it will be just the two of us having a special moment on the stage. I have heard of the whole congregation taking part, but we just wanted it to be us.Another idea is having someone else besides the pastor get up and speak during part of the ceremony. He/she could give you a "charge", or a challenge for your marriage. Also if you write your own vows, that could be a way to share your faith. Others will witness the promises and the beliefs you share as you pledge your love for one another.  Hope that all helps!
