Follow up to TY note Q from last week (and a quick update on the kids)

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to thank you all for your support last week. Being just a bit of a lurker and not really a reg, it really meant a lot to me. I've been feeling much calmer the past few days even though things seem to be in a constant state of chaos. :)

I wanted to let you all know that TY cards went out and are finally done (woohoo!), and the kids all got here on Thursday MIL brought them all by plane and stayed for a few days as they got settled and left last night so that makes today my first official day alone with the 3 kiddos. Wish me luck!

The kids are doing well so far. The twins are too little to know what's going on, but their older brother, M, is loving getting to spend time with his goofy uncle and our furbabies (who aren't quite sure what to think of all the noise in the house now, lol). The girls are really tiny, but are now both around 9 lbs (they were premies and one of them had some health issues for which she had surgery a few months ago). Both of them are pretty laid back and as long as they have a clean diaper and food in their bellies they seem content.

We've decided that getting used to M's eating habits shall be an adventure for us and one of the toughest things to adjust. MIL said at home he'd mostly eat Happy Meals, frozen meals (apparently he loves Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwhiches) and junk food which is pretty much the opposite of what we eat (I don't think we've gone to a fast food place in at least 3 years, lol). I guess it's just one of many adjustments we'll have to deal with.

OK, that's all I've got for now. Going to go grab another cup of coffee and  try to get some work done before little ones wake up. Thanks again everyone for all the support and help--Hope you all have a great week!

Glad to hear things are going well - M will adjust, and it's good for him to be eating healthier things than happy meals all the time.  Maybe there are some fun-looking healthy snacks these days?  Things that kids look at and say, "oh that looks like kid food" but is really good for them?  Best of luck!

  • you are good people, jaded.  I hope the transition continues to be smooth for these kids.  As someone else said, no everyone would be ready and willing to completely change their life to bring in three kids.
  • Thanks ladies. Honestly, we don't see ourselves as doing anything really extraordinary, we're just doing what we think any person should/would do if they're able. But the encouragement is always good to hear. :)

Hoffse, that idea about food that "looks like kid food but isn't" is great. I just hopped on Pinterest and there are a ton of ideas on there, so thanks for suggestion!

  • Saw some homemade trailmix on Pintrest the other day.  I don't remember everything it  had but I know it passed on the chocolate. ;-)

So glad to hear that things are settling in.  You guys are amazing!  Pop in from time to time if/when you can.
