Anyone in the Dallas area?

DH and I are going to make a road trip to the Ikea in Frisco on the weekend of Feb. 5th and will most likely stay over at least 1 night since it's about a 5 hour trip for us.  Any recommendations for..anything?

Pappadeaux. They are a great seafood restaurant, one of my favorites in Dallas. That is all I got for ya in Dallas. Fi lived there though, I wonder if he has any good suggestions.

Shop at Ikea, lol.  That's all that we have planned, but can't do 2 5 hour trips in the same day.

I'm in dallas, quite close to frisco.  Are you actually staying in frisco or another city? What kind of food do you like? If you love BBQ you might want to hit Rudy's in Frisco, Blue Mesa in frisco is good fancyish southwestern food.  I'll keep thinking...

koopa - we have no idea where we're staying.  We'll probably just pick a random hotel, so if you have any recommendations for those, we'd appreciate them.  As for food, I'm a veg and H is a carnivore.  Lots of places have veg options, though, so I'm pretty open.

Oh ok, if your main reason for the trip is Ikea I'd probably just stay in Frisco, there are lots of hotels there and lots of restaurants and shopping there.  There is a big mall called Stonebriar Centre which is right by Ikea.  They have lots of restaurants in there like Cheesecake Factory, California pizza kitchen, etc.  There are also a lot of restaurants outside, typical chain places like Fridays and stuff.  If you like mexican or southwestern food I would look into Blue Mesa, it's good and they have an awesome sunday brunch if you will be there sunday morning.

The location you would want is North Plano, Granite Park.  Ikea is right on a highway which is the separating marker for Plano and Frisco, so a lot of the restaurants you might go to will be considered plano, even though you can see them from Ikea.  I'll keep thinking about restaurants/things to do and will keep you posted.  Feel free to ask me about any hotels/restaurants/whatevers and I can tell you how convenient they would be for you, I am about 5 minutes from frisco so I know that area pretty well.

There is a pizza place between Plano and Dallas called Marco's. FI swears it is the best thin crust pizza in TX, until he found one here in Austin. You'd probably have ot google it. Its in the corner of a shopping center next to a pier one. Its take-out only, but scrumptious.

After I ran my 6 hour marathon in Dallas in 07, when it was rainy and 37 out, FI drove all the way up there to get pizza ( i had meatballs.. needed protein) before we drove the 3.5 hours home to Austin. I was dying in the backseat.. but Its that good!

sarah - thanks, we'll look into that.  Being from NY I'm a pizza snob, but I'm always on the lookout for good pizza down here!
