Married ladies: Guest Book/Picture

What did you do? Where did you get it?  Did you like how it turned out?  How much did it cost?

Thanks.

Re: Married ladies: Guest Book/Picture

  • Oh friggity frack.  Sorry, I was looking at the guest list and forgot to switch back over.

  • It took me a second to figure out what was going on there ^.
  • I'm still confused. I know it's the same person, but what's the question?

  • What was your guest book?  Did you like it?  Did you do a book or picture or whatever else?

  • I did a photo guestbook and we really liked it.  My DH made it on blurb.  It was more expensive than I thought it would be but I think part of that was DH upgrading features without thinking about how much doing that would total.
  • What's the difference between blurb and shutterfly?

  • I assume the guest books where you put your e-pics in them, and it makes a nice coffee table type book? I like those. That's all I've got.

No idea, Night.  I heard blurb recommended on boards a bunch so I sent DH the link.  I think one of my friend's from work just did some albums through shutterfly and she really liked it.
  • We did a wedding certificate (calligraphy was by Toucan Calligraphy) and our guests loved it.

  • I used snapfish. I got 20 8x11 pages for $25, but that was with a leather (pleather) cover. I loved it, the quality was great and I love the cut-out window cover. I made two more of them for our parents of wedding photos for Christmas. You could do the same book for $20 with a linen cover rather than pleather. Don't order the wedding one, it's like 2 sq. in. bigger for $50 - total rip. I'm sure that's just shocking.

  • Ah gotcha, sorry I'm slow. We had a photo booth, and had a blank guestbook for guests to put one copy of their picture in along with a note if they wanted (the photo booth printed out 2 copies). I really really loved how it turned out. It's so much fun to look through all of the pictures and comments. Anyway we got our guestbook from etsy seller kateblocher, here is ours if you can still see it:

Only it had red ribbon and aqua thread. I think her prices have gone up a bit since we got ours, but the quality is fantastic and overall I recommend this seller. I'm not sure if she does lined ones or not, and obviously if you want a picture one this is not the route to go, but we liked it for what we did.

  • I did a photobook with picaboo of my parents wedding photos, and it turned out pretty awesome.  It was more expensive than blurb, but I liked some of the available layouts in picaboo better than blurb.

    Picaboo
    Pros                                           Cons
    Nice pre-designed layouts        More expensive
Has collage layouts                   Can't edit layouts at all
    Uses rotation/angles nicely       Limited fonts

    Blurb
    Pros                                  Cons
Can edit every layout       Can't rotate photos to any angle
Budget friendly                 Hard to evenly space custom layouts
Can use any font on your computer

I think shutterfly's finished quality is a lot lower.
Mypublisher is easy to use, but even more than picaboo.
Mpix has great quality flush mount albums, but they're hundreds of dollars.

  • I got our book from Shutterfly. I bought an 8 x8 book with 20 pages for our small wedding.  With shiping and a hardback cover it was like $32. I LOVE IT!!!! So worth the money knowing that we can keep it out all the time!
  • Picaboo it is.  I have drafted an album.  We'll see if Vogt approves.

  • I used Picaboo too and was really happy with it.  I did pictures from the 9 years we've been together and it turned it out really cute.  Our guests signed and left messages all over the pages and it's still on our coffee table a year and a half later.  When people come over, they will pick it up and flip through it.

  • Dani, how many pages did you do?  Is 20 enough?

  • I put together a quilt that'll be a wall hanging.  Everyone signed the center of it and at Christmas Mom is going to help me embroider it and quilt it.

  • We did a photo mat... I loved it and thought it worked out great until the horrid child of our best man scribbled a "picture" and her mother lovingly signed her name under it.

We are working on "fixing" it, layering ribbon to hide it.  I'm still angry about it.

  • Night, I actually have our guestbook done in Picaboo too, but I haven't printed it.  It's 37 pages, about half of which are blank.  I can send you the link to the online preview, if you want.
