Sending out invitations

My question is, when should I send out invitations? And how much time do you give for the RSVP date?

Send them out 6-8 weeks before the wedding.  Set the RSVP date about a week before you need to get final numbers to your caterer (should be in your contract).  

If you have overseas guests, then make sure you send out their invitations a few weeks earlier, because it will take longer for it to get there.  You'll also need extra postage.
