Who to invite

My MOH asked me for a list of all women invited to the wedding for the bridal shower invites.  Do you really invite every female?  Alot of these people are FI family that I haven't met yet.  Who should be invited to a bridal shower?

Generally, you invite the people that are close to you to to the shower.  If someone on FI's side offers to throw you a shower, than those people would of course be invited to that one.

Just give her names of family and friends you are closest with.  I also invited fiance's grandmothers because I knew they wanted to be included...even though I don't know them particularly well.

No, every female invited to the wedding does not need to be invited to the shower.  I went to one of those and the bride was opening gifts for hours straight, it was rather boring.  It's really up to you on who you invite, my BP threw a shower where we invited my family and friends. FMIL and FSIL are hosting another shower for their side of the family.  If you're only having one shower, I would ask your FMIL about inviting people from FI's side of the family (I'm guessing FI doesn't care).  Since you're going to be part of their family soon, I think it's nice to include them and meet them before the wedding.

I guess it kind of depends on how things are done in your circle. In my family, every single female is invited to a shower. Showers are split between groom's family, and then the bride's family is split between father's side/mother's side. Bachelorette parties/lingerie parties are for friends. 

But I totally agree with the others to just give names of people you're closest with, especially if you know everyone will be ok with that.

Thanks girls! This is more of what I was thinking too.
