Formal addressing on announcements/thankyous?

Do you have to do the formal, hand written addressing on announcements? What about thanks yous?

If you're asking if you should use labels over hand-written, the answer to that is always probably not!

But if you want to do:

Jane and John Smith instead of Mr and Mrs John Smith

I think that's fine.

I'm definitely doing hand written.  I've seen the informal "Jane and John Smith" on thank you's, just wasn't sure about announcements?

If I hand wrote addresses, the recipient would think a toddler had sent them something in the mail. Just sayin'.
