hotel block

So, I'm making an insert for the invitatoins to let out of town guests know that i have blocked some hotel rooms at two hotels at a special rate.  one hotel is more inexpensive than the other.  what's the "right" way to do this?  should i put the price of the room on the insert along with the hotel's contact info or just let people call the hotel and find out that way?

i don't want to do the wrong thing!

I admit I don't know the etiquette, but I'd put the prices there. It just makes it easier for guests.

For your convenience, we have reserved a number of rooms at the following hotels.

    Holiday Inn
    www.holidayinn.com
    123-456-7890
    $85 per night

    Marriott
    www.marriott.com
    123-456-7890
    $115 per night

Pleas mention the Smith/Jones wedding when booking to reserve at these reduced rates.

P.S.: I remember this being posted recently and lots of P&Eers recommended letting guests find the prices on your wedding web site. I just don't see the point of NOT including it here.

  • Letting people call the hotels would be fine, and also word of mouth.  I don't think you need to put the price on the insert.

  • I put the price on my STD. Not sure about the invitation yet. I never considered it tacky until some posters here said they'd prefer to just let their guests call the hotel.

  • You definitely don't need prices.  If you have a lot of OOT guests, just give a couple different options.

  • I made an insert and put the price on it.  Why make them call and do extra work, especially if you give more than one option?

  • My daughter is inserting a page of info on the various hotels for out of town guests.  It lists the hotel, address, local and toll free phone numbers which is also good for the gps when they are travelling.  Also listed is the hotel website, rate, type of room ie--double, queen, king and some ammenities, distance from wedding venue.

She just figured that it would save the guests a lot of time calling around if they had basic information and could look on the website before they made a decision.  Some want a pool while others don't care and just want a nice, clean place for a lower price.

Some guests have inquired about accommodations recently and the info sheet was sent to them via email.
