Wedding Dress Etiquette - Second Wedding

The gown I have selected has a "semi-cathedral" train.  Will I receive a raised eyebrow from Ms. Post if I wear it on my second wedding?  As admonished, I'm foregoig the veil.

Re: Wedding Dress Etiquette - Second Wedding

  • Not at all, there's nothing wrong with a long train for your second wedding! And you can certainly wear a veil if you want.

  • Go for it. This marriage isn't any less special or meaningful than the first one and you should feel gorgeous in a dress you love.
  • Whether it's your first, second, or tenth, it's still YOUR wedding! Wear whatever you want!! You are the one getting married!
  • Yeah, I feel like the "it's all about you" attitude is 100% allowed for choosing your own dress (unless someone else is helping pay for it, but even then i feel like they should let your opinion take precedence). You should choose the dress that makes you feel beautiful and special and that you want to get married to FI in, and you should wear a veil if you want to.

Hopefully you're getting married because you think this is the guy for you for the rest of your life... so it shouldn't matter what # wedding it is, and you should have the same things anyone else does that's about to marry the person they're going to spend the rest of their life with.

  • In 46 or so days I am having my second wedding, and I am going all out, as in church wedding, white gown with a veil, bridal party, and all of it.  It is your first marriage to your FH, so whatever you want to do, goes.

Ummm....except do not use goldfish as centerpieces....trust me......

  • I wore a wedding dress for my second wedding and it had a train. Not a huge one or anything, but it was essentially a big, puffy white dress.

No one batted an eye, everyone expected me to wear a real wedding dress. They all know/knew that this wedding was IT, that it was/is my H's first and only wedding and that it was going to be treated as such. Believe me, I agonized over this. I was nervous to even wear a birdcage veil until my sister slapped some sense into me.

Good luck! Show us pics of your dress if you can. We love that. :)

  • I'm reading "Ms. Post" right now and she says go for it.  It's your day, wear what you want.
