Can I cash an early wedding gift check?

We received a check from one of our guests who can't make it, should I cash it or wait til the date?

Cash it now and send a thank you card now.

You can deposit it and write the thank you to the sender.  You should not spend it until after the wedding.

Cash it now for sure. I personally HATE when checks that I've written sit in my checking account. So as PP said, cash it, write a thank you so they know you received it but don't use it until after the wedding.

Yeah...I think it is rude to hold onto a personal check for an extended period of time if you can help it... so definitely cash it now and send a thank you note now...then less thank you notes to write after the wedding!
