Poll: Which color shoes should I suggest for my BMs?

I want them to be able to pick their own shoes or wear ones they already own, but I would like them to be in the same color family. The colors we're using in the ceremony are light pink and medium grey. They'll be carrying clutches in different shades/patterns of pink.

Which do you think would look better with this dress?

(I don't want/expect them to buy these specific shoes below, just an example of the colors.)

Beige/taupe shoes:

Light grey shoes:

Re: Poll: Which color shoes should I suggest for my BMs?

  • I voted for both -- but I must have a foot fetish I didn't know about because I am totally enamored of pictures of bridesmaids' shoes (epecially when they don't match and are in fun colors and prints!).

  • I would say silver. Most people own a pair of silver shoes so they wouldn't have to buy a pair for the wedding.

I say black or dark grey! I am pretty useless when it comes to all things shoes, though.

The beige/taupe shoes look pink to me;  I think they would look better with the pink flowers.  It would help brighten things up, since I think silver with grey dresses might look a little drab.
  • I think you should let them pick whatever color shoes they'd like, and leave it at that.  Nobody cares about the BMs' shoes.

  • If you really want it to be something they already own, why not black?

  • I like both. Where is that dress from? I love it!

  • I would say black. Pretty much everyone owns a nice pair of black shoes and if they buy new ones then they will wear them again..

  • I agree with black.  They would look great with that dress, and most girls already own a pair of black shoes.  And if they don't, at least they will wear them again after.
  • Good point about the black. I hadn't considered it since our wedding's mostly light and bright colors, but that's true that people don't really notice BM shoes (or, if they notice, they don't really care).

ashmy, the dress is called "Spirited Away" from Anthropologie. It's discontinued, but I've seen some on ebay!
  • I thought it looked like an Anthropologie dress! It is SO cute, your bridesmaids are lucky :)

  • Thanks, ash! It's funny that you say that ;) One of my BMs pitched a fit after I'd already bought them for them, but that's another story... heh

    can you be more irritating?

poli - my vote is for silver. it'd look nice, presumably your bms have some, and they'll have the clutches and (i think) colored flowers so i don't think it'd be too drab.
  • also, i think black would be too dark/heavy for what you have going on.
  • i like the tan, but considering the back story of one of your BMs and her issue with dresses and color...I'd say ask for her opinion, and then pick whatever she doesn't want :)

  • I like the contrast of the beige.

Jill, the other day FI came home and was like "I HAVE TO SHOW YOU THIS VIDEO OF THESE HAMSTERS!!" and I told him it was the video in your sig. He was impressed.
  • I would say either silver, or a pale pink. I think a pink shoe would be really cute.

  • I like both of the colors.

  • If you want something everyone owns, I'd go with black. I have tons of shoes, but they're mostly for running, soccer, mountain biking, climbing, and hiking. I own exactly two pairs of dress shoes. One is black, and one is the beautiful off-white pair I bought when I was MOH at a wedding to match a pale green/off-white dress. Black would have looked terrible with those colors, but would work with gray and pink.

I also bought shoes (that I no longer have) in pure white, and had them dyed to match the dress for another wedding. The shoes were cheap...I think I paid about $15 at Marshalls, and the dye job cost about $20. Definitely not Carrie Bradshaw Vogue, but they worked!
