Yoo hoo, Hoo...

Shower pics per your request, ma'am.

Here are all the poms I made for the CPs:

Here's a close-up of one- I put them in Mason jars because the baby's name is Mason (it actually says Mason at the bottom of the jar, a detail only I noticed, I'm sure):

This is the diaper wreath I made. I was going to make a diaper cake, but someone beat me to it. It's actually displayed on the gift table below (it looks nothing like a diaper cake):

This is my pregnant sister:

I got a lot of compliments on the shower. I think people in my neck of the woods are used to seeing baby booties and those round paper decor things. It made it worth the effort to hear everyone gush over everything.

On an unrelated note, the IL's are coming over for dinner tonight for MIL's b-day, and I decided to make a cake. B wanted cupcakes. He picked the dye colors and he decorated them. Yes, they look like boy baby shower cupcakes, but since he helped out, I don't care (some are supposed to be polka-dotted, and then he put everyone's initials on a cupcake, including all the pets, even the IL's dog):

  • is the thing in the middle of the gift table supposed to be a diaper cake? my eyes aren't so good in my advanced age.

  • I know, right? I'm just going to keep all this stuff and then use to throw my own shower and my sister better not give a crap. (Actually, she totally wouldn't give a crap).

But of course crazy sister will cut anybody who offers, since she has called dibs.
  • I also didn't find the diaper cake.  Unless it's cleverly disguised as a duck.

also, the title makes me want to yodel.

    Yodelllllllllllaaaaaaaaaayheeeeeeeeeeehohhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Yep, that's supposed to be the diaper cake. I've never seen a one-layer diaper cake before. With no diapers in sight...

Thanks everyone!! Those poms made me want to die, so I'm glad they came out so well!

Ahhh, I was distracted by the plastic wrap and thought it was a gift basket :)

And, thanks for the map.  I was lost.  Again.

  • I think you can have a "lost" pass in this instance.
  • I'm going to pretend the duck is actually made out of diapers.

WOW your sister got a diaper duck. NEAT!

  • And the bunny on the other side of the table actually turns into a crib!! Robo-Bunny!!
  • aw, you did a really nice job- big fan!
  • Very nice, crafty lady!  I love the poms and the wreath.  And Mason Bentley sounds so very southern to me.  Maybe because I can't help but hear Bentley the way that Maci from Teen Mom says it.
    image
  • My sister says Bentley the exact same way as Maci, and being 19, I'm not ruling out that she actually got the name Bentley from Teen Mom. They're going to call him Bentley instead of Mason. NMS, but it floats their boat!

  • Were they used diapers?

  • I've never quite understood giving a kid a first and middle, fully intending to use the middle name.  Um, why not just make it the first name then?  My parents would have done this to me if I had been a boy (John David, calling me David).  WTF, parents?

I grew up with a guy who was given his Dad's name (Herbert, without a lie).  He went by his middle name.  I'm sure it was just to avoid confusion with his Dad.

  • Awww BENTley is the cutest baby on Teen Mom so its ok that she's using it.

    Great job on the decorations!

  • Listen, if it's just a shart, the diaper isn't "used", alright? (I'm not saying that word agian, today, I promise.)

Kiki, thank you!!! That's what my reasoning was, and my sister's FMIL had that argument, and had persuaded her son to try to talk my sister out of that and call him Mason, but she isn't having it.
