A mutual friend of my FI and mine wants to give us her wedding ring set now that she's divorced and she knows money is tight. Her line of thinking is that the rings no longer have any meaning to her and she wants to give them to us knowing that they'll go into a loving relationship and I can take the diamonds and put them in a different setting. However, I am having trouble accepting it, feeling it's too big of a gift (the diamond in the engagement ring is 2c alone, not including the rest of the side diamonds in both bands). Both my mom and another friend has said it would be rude not to accept the gift. What are your thoughts on it? Should I just accept and thank her or do I refuse?
