Sarah Palin's son got married but their reception

won't be until the winter.

Track Palin, 22, married his high school sweetheart Britta, 21, recently at a small ceremony with only famly attending.

The couple will have a larger wedding reception when all their friends and family can join them.

Methinks she hasn't visited our board yet.

Or maybe there wasn't time for her pretty princess day

  • Because they didn't want a repeat of Bristol's situation?  =-)

  • I flame other parents infrequently but Sarah Palin sure hasn't won any gold stars for her parenting

    MO, of course
  • So, they have a son with the name of a sport and a DIL with the name of a water pitcher.

I bet they got married so they could have sex.

I bet they got married because she's already pregnant. Sarah Palin can't be having ANOTHER kid making babies out of wedlock.

I heard this news earlier and totally thought of this board when I heard they are having a "real wedding" with all the trimmings later. Blah.
  • I thought intimate weddings and later larger receptions were ok?

I thought that was if they happened on the same day. Like immediate family witnesses the ceremony then they head to the venue where the larger group of guests are waiting to party.

I'm grateful that Sarah Palin manages to provide me with new reasons for me to dislike her.  It'd be boring just thinking that she's stupid and itching for fame at any cost.

I personally think she's a bad parent not because her daughter got pregnant as a teenager but because she put her pregnant teenager in the limelight when she decided to run for VP. I personally think a good parent would have declined to run and put her children first.

Out of curiousity, do you feel the same way about every person that has a position of authority or public image? Like, if Obama's daughter (yes, I know they are way too young, but it's a hypothetical) got knocked up out of wedlock while he was president, would you feel the same way? That he should step down so that he could put his children first? What about the Hollywood actors and actresses that have kids with drug problems or pregnancies? Should they stop making movies/singing/ bringing in money for their families because their kids made stupid choices?

I mean, there are a lot of reasons to dislike Sarah Palin, but this sounds like a dumb one to me.

I'm about as blue as they come, and I think she's a bit of a moron and was not ready for the national political stage, I don't think she's a bad parent, and if she is, it's certainly not because her teenage daughter made a very bad decision. And in fact, I'm a reality TV whore, and her TLC show was a teeny bit entertaining...but I bet the son definitely knocked up that chick.

I'm not a fan of Sarah Palin. I can't speak to her parenting but on a political front I think she's a disaster.

I find Bristol to be more irritating because of her hypocrisy. She got pregnant, and instead of taking her experience to teach other teens about methods of birth control she should have been using, she makes her platform about abstinence. Honey, you're the poster child that proves an abstinence only education does not work. It just baffles me that anyone would take her seriously on this issue.

<div>So anyone who lets their kid do 16& pregnant is a bad parent? </div><div>
</div><div>Going through that experience is probably much more damaging.</div><div>
</div><div>I don't think that by her running, she wasn't putting her kids first. IMO, If I had a child who was pregnant, I wouldn't just stop my plans in their tracks. But TBH, was it ever made public whether she knew Bristol was pregnant before she accepted the offer to run? (Not before they started making appearances, just running)</div>

  • From what I've seen, most of the parents on 16 & Pregnant seem like pretty bad parents, so I don't think I'd rely on that example to back up your argument.

On the topic of names, I know three brothers whose legal names are Jock, Champ and Tiger. They play a lot of sports.

<div>^ This.  I don't think that every parent of a pregnant (or male equivalent) teenager is a bad parent, but most of the ones I have witnessed certainly *seem* to be bad parents.</div>
  • I don't think the parents of pregnant teenagers are bad parents.  In no way am I comfortable with a blanket statement that big.  I'm perfectly comfortable stating that the parents of pregnant teenagers who allow them to be exploited on a reality tv program due to their pregnant underage state do not have their parenting priorities in order.

Your child has already come to you and said "Mom. I'm 16.  I'm pregnant.  That dude over there with his underwear showing...he's the dad."  When she follows it up with "And Mtv wants to follow us around with cameras to show how irresponsible and unprepared we are," you don't just give up and say "Sure."
