need advice on whether to buy a gift..

Hi everyone!
I would so appreciate your advice... I am getting married in a few weeks and invited all my cousins (we have a huge family). One of my cousins who cannot make it sent us a nice card and a gift card for the store we registered at.

He is getting married the weekend after us but chose not to invite the cousins. I want to thank him for the gift and my first instinct was that we should offer them something from their registry, but is that awkward since we were not actually invited to their wedding? I don't want to create a strange situation, and I am not sure if it is best to give a gift or not to..
Thanks for your input!!!

  • If you want to send a gift, then send a gift. However, send the TY note by itself, and if you choose to send them something or a GC, make sure it gets its own card.
  • It's always fine to send a gift, whether you were invited or not.  In the last few months I have sent gifts for three weddings I wasn't invited to.  It's only awkward if the reason you weren't invited was that the couple doesn't actually like you.  (I've received one of those.)
