I received a wedding gift today

15 months after the wedding.

The woman's mom passed away a week before our wedding, yet they still made it even though it was OOT. She bought us an ornament but said they will would send a gift.

I was somewhat surprised that they never sent a gift later.  The woman is a southern woman and somewhat big on etiquette.  They are gift givers and not cash like our families.  So I admit I was surprised they never sent one later.  Not that it was a big deal.  Just not something she would normally do.

anyway,  after a while I forgot about it.

Today I pick  up the mail and there was a check in the christmas card.

Better late than never.    I wonder where I put those thank you cards???

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
