Yeah that one scared me. I knew a girl once whose mother teased and torured her for being chubby her whole life and was a huge part of this girl becoming obsessed with working out. I just want to strangle people like that!

So it was bad that I told my sister that bulemia would look good on her?  Maybe I should do a KPS for that.

Wow. I've had some friends whose moms weren't always completely tactful where weight was concerned, but that is just beyond terrible.

I feel so much empathy for her. Not for the mom part, but just the struggle. It makes me sad. I remember my grandmother (whom I love, don't get me wrong) ask me once if I really thought I should be eating that. It killed me.

And, the person with the mom and the mammogram. Both my grandmother (same one) and aunt have been through this and are doing fine. I have a similar issue I talked about yesterday. You have my thoughts and prayers.

It's kind of like toddlers and tiaras. Not really, but that's what it made me think of. Parents who are just SO into what their child looks like, it's gonna give 'em a complex and then ONE DAY, they'll end up on a wedding message board with all these problems saying, IT'S BECAUSE MY MOM MADE ME WAX MY EYEBROWS WHEN I WAS 3!!!!!!

I guess I wasn't all that surprised by it, because one of my best friends developed an eating disorder after years of her mother criticizing her and telling her she was chubby, never good enough, etc. And then even after that, she continued to make mean comments about her weight, even when she knew my friend was in treatment and everything. She is a terrible mother.

I'm also not that surprised by the mother/eating disorder one.  I definitely know some people who've been messed up for life by their moms saying things like that.  So sad.  I hope she knows that her mom is a b*tch and is the one with the issue, not her.

That one made me sad. I pretty sure I would cussed my mom out. I also find it even more disturbing that her mom is an endocrinology nurse. I see an endo for my diabetes and i think I would punch one of his nurses if they suggested that to me.
