Post Office mishaps

We mailed our invites at 9 - 10 weeks out.  Mostly because I was tired of telling FI we had to wait.  We're under 4 weeks to go, and I just got one back that the post office failed to deliver YESTERDAY.  And it's local.  (And the address is right, so it's just them.)  Now, I've talked to the friend on the phone who should have received it and it's ok, but good grief.

Based on this, it's making me really, really question the 6 to 8 weeks out guideline we tell everybody.

ALSO - FI had co-workers asking at 11 and 12 weeks out if they were now un-invited after getting a STD since they hadn't gotten an invite in the mail.  The general public clearly thinks that invites go out earlier than 6 weeks, by a lot.
