I'm here. Typing one handed as one is being taken up by a baby. It's been an interesting couple days. We went to Children's hospital to meet part of the craniofacial team. We were basically told that we were feeding him wrong. The jaundice was coming back and he hadn't (tmi warning) had a bowel movement in 48 hours.

It was very discouraging to be told flat out that we were feeding him wrong. I was all sorts of emotions last night and was bawling my eyes out. They made me feel like a failure.

Hi.  H and I just finished dinner.  We had intentions of making dinner this morning, then gave up and ordered pizza.  Now he is watching Star Wars and playing Angry Birds on my phone while I knot.  I love lazy weekends with nothing to do and nowhere to be.

Ciara you definitely should not feel like a failure.  You aren't expected to know how to do everything as soon as you bring him home, and you shouldn't expect that of yourself.  I'm sure you're doing a great job!

It's getting better. The first couple days were difficult. He's a really good baby.

We haven't done much today. We went and made dinners for the next two weeks. H took his truck in and I have been working on my résumé.

They should have told you before you left the hospital how to feed him. You were doing what you were suppose to be doing. Do not feel like a failure. You are doing the best you can.

Ciara, weird (and possibly TMI) question: are you breast feeding?

We still don't know. But from what they have told us, probably around 3 months. He has to be at least 10lbs, right now he is 6.4lbs.

Yes LDY, he gets breast milk from a bottle, although my supply hasn't come in yet.

They showed us how to feed him but it wasn't the right way according to the craniofacial specialist.

This is a P&R but Ciara that is fvcked up they said that!!! You are definitely NOT a failure!

Now off to a "bridesmaid meeting" for a wedding I am not even a bridesmaid in (do not know how I got roped into this) and then going roller skating with my girls! I am so excited, I hope everyone's weekend is going great!

Keep your head up Ciara.  You're trying your best and as long as you're always learning you should never feel like a failure.

Ciara- You are not a failure. You are doing everything you can and need to do. You have a wonderful baby boy that is adorable.

Today is going well.

I know it is a learning experience and that we are all in this together. It was just the way that the specialist worded it.

teachermegs: work....(i am a teacher also)...can't get into it (for obvious reasons) but it was the worst week of my career and i even briefly started looking for another job.

its all good....just a biiiiig issue where i initially wasn't supported by admin...but they changed their tune and was extremely supportive afterwards....

We are getting the hang of everything slowly. Sleep is still hard because I wake up to every single noise that he makes.

We meet with the plastic surgeons on Friday and will hopefully have a better estimate on when the surgery will be.
