Do you give a wedding gift and a wedding shower gift or just give one gift total?

<div>I think it depends on your area.  I have always known it to be give a gift at both, but I've heard on here that some people just give one or the other.</div>

It's popular in my family/region to give a gift at the shower and money at the wedding. (However my H's family usually gives physical gifts for everything.) But yes, one "gift" for each event. Depending on circumstances, of course. If you can't afford one of each, don't go into debt or anything. In that case, if you're invited to the shower and would like to attend, I'd give a gift then, since the bride opens them at the shower. FWIW, the shower gift usually costs less, in my experience.

  • I normally give a gift off the registry for the shower and money for the wedding.

  • Oh and yeah ditto the others that in my hometown it's usually physical gift at the shower, and monetary gifts at the wedding.

  • As PPs stated.  I give off the registry for the shower and cash for the wedding.

  • I technically give two gifts. I buy something off the registry for the shower and then give cash for the wedding.

  • I personally would do both. A smaller gift for the shower and a larger gift for the wedding. But, I've not attended many showers.

I usually just give one gift.  Maybe that is more of a southern thing because it is pretty customary in my circle.  If I'm invited to the shower, I bring a gift there, and not to the wedding.  Otherwise. I bring a gift to the wedding.
