Hi! :) Did you ever come back and tell us about your struggle with destination vs. backyard wedding? Are you still having thoughts? I want to help if you need me!

Re: *laurenclaire*

  • I talked to FI about it a couple days ago and he reacted just like I thought he would: he's not mad, but he's aggravated that I can't make up my mind. He said we could do whatever and he'd be totally happy with whatever happens, just that we need to make a plan and stick with it. My boss's wife offered her house yesterday to have the wedding and reception at. It's huge and has a beautiful yard, so when FI gets in tonight, we're going to talk about it. Thanks for asking! I've got to get FI to agree to the idea first, then start thinking logistics. I'll let you know how it goes.

  • Hang in there! It's tough not knowing what you want. Once you figure it out, lock it down and go from there. :) I'm here if you need me.
  • Bec, you're awesome. Seriously. Thanks a bunch. Because I will need help. I'm the worst bride in the history of ever.

  • Can we have a cage fight to see who is the worst bride in the history of ever? I really wanted to claim that title for myself. Mainly for my bitchy-ness.

Cew, you never even talk about your wedding planning!  So if you've been b!tchy, it certainly hasn't been around here!

  • Oh, trust me, I've been bitchy. I save it all up and unleash it on FI. He's okay with it, though. He's been preparing for these last weeks since he proposed. Bless his heart. This is one of those occasions when someone really should feel sorry for my FI.
  • LC- I totally know what you're going through.  I was really torn on doing the Vegas thing, or having a backyard style get-together here in Colorado.  What really swayed me was realizing that if I had it here, I'd have to invite a lot of people, or I'd feel bad.  Now that it's getting close, I'm glad I decided to do the DW.  It's been really easy planning and everyone who's going is super-excited about a little fun vacation.

Kiki/Linz, Vegas WAS a fun place to get married. It's a PITA to get your paperwork afterwards, but that was exactly our thinking. With the exception of maybe 4 people, everyone had to travel, so why not make it someplace fun, where there's stuff to do? I mean, I love Iowa, but there isn't much to do in September.......

I wish we'd had more time out there, though.

PS - my very first thought when planning was the Stanley Hotel. The price SEEMED reasonable, but when mom and I looked at it, there wasn't a whole lot for the price (we were working with the mega small budget John and I set of $1200).

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • Missy- the Stanley is really cool!  I've been there when there were weddings going on out on their terrace and it was gorgeous.  But yeah, not cheap.  Also, staying in the hotel is uber-creepy.
